BarcelonaThe passage of a weakened front has increased cloud cover this Saturday, even bringing some rain, a situation that will repeat itself on Sunday. We'll begin meteorological spring with weather that won't clear up, but won't be particularly turbulent either. Mornings will be mild and middays cool, far from the gentleness of the previous days, and with no clear trend toward spring-like warming in the coming days. What is looming on the horizon is a pocket of cold air that will settle between the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa, which will bring more suspended air and instability. Depending on its final position, we could even see some widespread rain by midweek, although what seems more likely at the moment is that there will be some scattered showers on Tuesday.

Sunday: time doesn't cleanse

March will begin with lingering light showers in the interior of the Girona region, north of Barcelona, and in the Pre-Pyrenees, mainly during the morning and into the mid-afternoon. Again, these will be scattered and insignificant showers, and the sky will be variable with intervals of cloud cover, which will tend to clear more decisively towards the afternoon. These are minor variations in a first day of meteorological spring that is quite pleasant across most of the region, with morning fog and temperatures similar to or higher than usual, especially in the Ponent and Vall d'Aran.

Monday: Time doesn't cleanse

A calm start to the week, still with quite a few clouds. Low clouds will dominate during the morning, while as the day progresses, high and mid-level clouds will also arrive, moving from south to north. In fact, it will be this cloud cover that will begin to bring some rain to the Valencian Community. The temperature will remain stable, although it will rise slightly in the west and north of the country, especially in the Pyrenees, which will be the sunniest area.

Weather shifts starting in the middle of next week

Next week's weather will be influenced by a pocket of cold air settling between the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa. This will initially bring a significant influx of suspended African dust, which will be particularly noticeable between Monday and Tuesday. This will result in rain that is quite muddy. More showers are expected on Tuesday, and between Wednesday and Thursday, we could see widespread rainfall, with snow only in the higher elevations of the Pyrenees. Temperatures will remain relatively stable.
