Fermí Casado, the actor who swapped cameras for training for senior executives
The interpreter reinvented himself in 2011 and, since then, teaches businessmen to speak in public
BarcelonaUntil the 2010s, Fermí Casado was primarily an actor recognized for his work in series such as Estació d'enllaç, Mar de fons, and El cor de la ciutat. He rose to fame embodying the character of Tomàs, the fictional son of Àngels Poch and Josep Maria Pou in that popular TV3 production set in a Barcelona train station. From then on, Casado continued to string together theater performances and television projects, through which he built a solid acting career alongside directors such as Mario Gas, Sergi Belbel, Joan Lluís Bozzo, and Roser Batalla.
The economic crisis of 2008, however, disrupted all his plans. Faced with a complicated situation, Casado decided to reinvent himself. The professional change was linked to the vision that acting on stage and teaching public speaking were not so different jobs. Casado developed his own training method, launched a company, and began offering public speaking training to executives, CEOs, and senior managers of various companies.
"The key from my point of view is your ability to focus on what you want to say and for your tools to help you. I teach how to speak, move, and think from a stage, and the ability to learn these three skills is what will make the difference and make communication more effective," he explained in 2016 in an interview with ARA. The new vocation opened up another professional path for him that is still ongoing and has yielded several fruits, including the book Present-acción: mejora tus presentaciones a partir de la técnica teatral (Editorial UOC, 2016), in which he describes his method.
