BarcelonaWe've started the week with very changeable weather and showers that, between Monday night and tonight, have left between 1 and 5 liters per square meter in many areas, but more than 15 or 20 liters per square meter in the Lleida Pyrenees. In the coming hours and days, the variability will continue due to the passage of new Atlantic fronts that will bring some showers—especially in the west and north—and precipitation in the Pyrenees. Above all, we'll notice a clear rise in temperatures and the snow level—above 2,000 meters—starting this Tuesday. It will be the first early taste of spring in 2026. The wind will also be a factor, as we'll experience strong winds in many areas, especially between Wednesday and Thursday. A crazy Carnival week, weather-wise too.

Tuesday: the temperature soars

The big news this Tuesday will undoubtedly be the significant rise in temperatures. The arrival of westerly winds will bring a noticeably warmer air mass, causing this sudden temperature increase. Between Tuesday and Thursday, we'll experience the first hints of spring, with temperatures reaching or nearing 20°C in several regions, and even potentially approaching 25°C in the south of the country. Needless to say, these are values well above average for this time of year.

All of this will occur under a changeable and variable sky due to the passage of new Atlantic fronts, although little rain is expected in most areas. Throughout the day, scattered and light showers or drizzles will fall in the western and northern third of the region. The exception will be the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, especially the western Pyrenees, where more intense precipitation will arrive. The snow level will also rise sharply to 2,000 meters in the morning and 2,400 or 2,500 meters in the afternoon. This will result in snow and ice accumulation at fairly high elevations. The westerly wind will strengthen in the afternoon.

Strong wind ahead

Between Wednesday and Thursday, westerly winds will strengthen, bringing strong gusts to many areas, especially in central and southern Catalonia, in higher elevations, in the Valencian Community, and in the Balearic Islands. The first alerts have already been issued for gusts that could easily exceed 70 or 90 km/h, although in the windiest areas they could surpass 100 km/h.

The sky will continue to change, with heavy rain expected only in the western Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees. The spring-like weather will last until Thursday, when temperatures will begin to drop and return to normal during the second half of the week, while rain may reach other areas.
