Rain tomorrow in the Valencian Community due to a DANA storm that will bypass Catalonia
It will rain from the Ebro southwards, and in the rest of the region there will be some afternoon showers.
BarcelonaWe started the week with a lot of variability, bringing us more afternoon showers and thunderstorms, including over 25 liters per square meter in Inglés (Selva). This pattern will continue on Tuesday, with sunshine combined with periods of cloudiness and more scattered showers in the afternoon, especially in mountainous areas. The big news is that the rain will be heavy in the Valencian Community and other parts of southeastern Spain. This will be the result of a small cut-off low that will bypass Catalonia. Only the Ebro Valley will see more clouds and some light showers. Between Wednesday and Friday, calm conditions will prevail with few changes and milder temperatures, before the weekend begins with a potentially significant change in the weather, which could bring rain, snow, and a return to wintry conditions.
Tuesday: Rain in the Valencian Community
The passage of a small cut-off low will bring rain to the entire Valencian Community this Tuesday. The rainfall could be locally heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms, so Aemet (the Spanish State Meteorological Agency) has issued a yellow alert for several districts, as well as for the Pitiusas Islands, where rain is also expected. In any case, no major storm like those of recent cut-off lows is anticipated; it will be a more fleeting episode. In Catalonia and much of the Balearic Islands, this episode will pass by, bringing calmer skies and clearer conditions. However, lighter rainfall is expected in the Montsià region, which may also affect nearby areas such as Terra Alta and the interior of Baix Ebre. Furthermore, in the afternoon, cloud cover will increase again, bringing more scattered showers to areas of the pre-coastal region, the Pyrenees, the Pre-Pyrenees, the mountain passes, and some inland locations. While not expected, some thunderstorms cannot be ruled out. Temperatures will change little, with many highs between 13°C and 17°C.
New changes at the end of the week
The low-pressure system will gradually move away, and between Wednesday and Friday, sunshine and calm weather will prevail, with only a few afternoon showers. There will be minor variations, such as the passage of a front that will bring some showers to the Pyrenees and surrounding areas on Wednesday. Maximum temperatures will rise, and middays will be milder.
But all eyes are on the weekend. The passage of a front and a blockage of cold air could bring rain everywhere on Saturday, with noticeably colder temperatures and a snow level that could drop below 1,000 meters. A return to winter that remains to be seen.
