BarcelonaWe'll end the weekend calmly and pleasantly, after a Saturday with temperatures reaching 33°C in Ponent. Today, however, we started the day with many clouds, especially along the coast and the pre-coastline, where some light rain fell early in the morning (0.1 mm in Vallirana and Barcelona).

Tomorrow, the week will begin with a significant change in the weather across the country. The most cloudy and unsafe weather will be expected especially on Tuesday, when there will be rain and a drop in temperatures. The storms may be accompanied by downpours, more likely along the coast and in the pre-coastline.

Sunday morning weather forecast.

Sunday: Summery atmosphere and thin clouds

Pending the predicted change in weather, for now, the sun will still shine this Sunday, albeit with high clouds. Low clouds will appear on the coast and the pre-coastal area, especially in the southern half, during the morning. In these areas, the skies will take a while to clear up, with a more muggy atmosphere due to the cloud cover. During the afternoon, thin and medium-sized clouds will move in from the west and eventually cover the skies in the West and Central Catalonia. The first showers in the Lleida Pyrenees and a thunderstorm in Els Ports de Beseit towards the end of the day cannot be ruled out.

Sunday afternoon weather forecast.

Temperatures will rise further tomorrow, both day and night. The weather will be warm and summery, with values clearly above average. Most highs will range between 28°C and 33°C, with highs reaching 34°C or 35°C inland in the Ebro region and Camp de Tarragona, in the West, in the southern interior of Valencia, and in the center of the island of Mallorca. The muggy conditions will persist on the coast, where tropical lows will gain ground again during the early hours of the morning (22.5°C was recorded in Barcelona during the early hours of this morning).

Change of weather at the doors of the Diada

On Monday, the temperature will drop slightly, although it will still be muggy along the coast. The week will begin with the approach of an active cold front that will increase cloudiness and bring the first showers and thunderstorms. The most likely are expected in the afternoon in the western half of the country, central Catalonia, the Pyrenees, and the south. Locally, they will be of moderate to heavy intensity, accompanied by thunderstorms, hail, or the occasional hail. In fact, Meteocat has already issued a warning for heavy rain.

On Tuesday, rain could sweep across the entire territory, with local intensity. Storms will hit the southern coast and the pre-coastal area during the early morning and early morning, and will continue to spread across the eastern half of the country as the hours pass.

Warning for expected heavy rain

Unstable conditions are expected to continue on Wednesday, with some early morning and early morning showers in the northern central coast and the Costa Brava. During the afternoon, some storms could form in the northeast. However, the Diada long weekend appears to be considerably calmer.

Lunar Eclipse

Today will be a total lunar eclipse, in which the Earth's shadow will be completely projected onto our satellite. In Catalonia, it will only be visible in the early evening, just as the Moon appears over the horizon around 8:30 p.m. At that time, the eclipse will already be in its total phase and can be observed until approximately 10 p.m. We will see the Moon tinted red, which is why we call it a blood moon. The question will be whether we will actually be able to see it, because with the arrival of the frontal storm, the sky will be quite cloudy.
