A peaceful chestnut festival and a warm peak for All Saints' Day, but a cold front will arrive on Sunday.
The nights will remain autumnal, but the highs will be on a roller coaster ride

BarcelonaOctober bid farewell this Friday with calm weather and warmer temperatures at midday. Temperatures reached 25°C again in towns along the Ebro River, such as L'Aldea (Baix Ebre). This pleasant weather will continue through the night of the Castañada (Chestnut Festival), with no rain expected anywhere and a moderately cool atmosphere. Looking ahead to All Saints' Day (Tots Sants), a national holiday, the Indian summer will reach its peak, with short sleeves or shirts suitable for midday in many areas. The weather will remain calm, but from the afternoon onwards, bands of clouds will increase in the west and the Pyrenees. A cold front will cross the region on Sunday night, bringing showers to some areas and northerly winds to the outer reaches, along with a drop in temperatures.

    Useful Chestnut Night
The weather will be very calm and pleasant tonight, the night of the Castañada. The sky will be generally clear, with some high, thin clouds, but also fog and low clouds in inland areas, so be aware of reduced visibility on the roads. As for temperatures, it will be generally cool and autumnal, and somewhat cold in mountainous areas and the northern interior of the country, especially after midnight. Many lows will be around 10°C in many inland locations and around 15°C on the coast. Therefore, we'll need to dress in sweaters or a jacket – depending on the area – if we're out in the early hours. The weather will be perfect for roasting chestnuts by the fire, but it won't be a cold Castañada like the ones we've always known.
All Saints' Day with the peak of Indian summer
All Saints' Day will be marked by temperatures that will climb a few degrees higher. Therefore, the Indian summer will reach its peak, with an unusually warm atmosphere for the first day of November. Many highs of 21 to 26 °C are expected, locally higher, with the highest values along the coast and in the pre-coastal areas.
All this with very calm conditions and plenty of sunshine combined with bands of high, thin clouds. From the afternoon onwards, the approaching front will bring increased cloud cover to the west and north of the country. Therefore, the sky will generally be cloudier from then on. And even towards the end of the day, there may be a few showers in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida. The Garbí wind will return with force in the Girona region, especially from midday onwards in higher areas and near the sea, with rough seas.
Weather change Sunday
The last day of the weekend will see the final passage of the cold front, which will be quite weakened, but will bring changes to the weather. Rain will arrive on the northern slopes of the Pyrenees during the night and early morning, continuing as light and intermittent showers throughout the rest of the day. Scattered showers are also expected in the rest of the region overnight. The snow level will descend from the initial 2,500 meters to 2,000 meters. Some very irregular afternoon showers are also expected in parts of the Girona and Barcelona regions, and in northern Mallorca. Elsewhere, sunshine will prevail, but strong mistral and tramontana winds will pick up in the southern half of the region, in the Ponent and Empordà areas, with rougher seas.

The arrival of cooler air will bring lower temperatures, especially in the north. However, along the southern coast, the wind will blow warmer, resulting in a brief warm spell. Temperatures will range from 17 to 22°C, higher in the south. This normalization of temperatures is expected to continue next week, with little rain in the forecast.
