Weather split in two today: risk of showers in some areas and only in the rest

BarcelonaThe presence of cold air over Catalonia and a still warm Mediterranean Sea will mean that the weather may not clear completely today between the Barcelona coast and the northeastern regions. Convective clouds will appear throughout the day, bringing intense showers off the coast, which will occasionally make landfall, with scattered showers that may locally produce more intense showers. This morning, 6 l/m² (1.2 US gal/m²) have already fallen in Mataró, 4 in Canet de Mar, and 3 in Arenys de Mar (Maresme) or 2 in Badalona (Barcelonès). In the afternoon, these fairly localized showers will also be more likely to appear inland in Girona. Minimum temperatures have risen, but the early hours remain cold for this season. Maximum temperatures will begin to rise in the south and the Pyrenees.

Thursday: Cool morning all around and partly cloudy on the coast

A day with two types of weather in the country. On the one hand, unstable weather will be marked during the morning between the central coast and the southern Costa Brava, with showers at sea that may make landfall locally. However, inland and in the Pyrenees, there will be good sunshine, with some mist in the valleys of central Catalonia and the West. Meteocat maintains a warning for heavy rain in the regions of the central coast. Between the afternoon and especially the evening, there will be repeated showers in these same areas, while some scattered showers will appear in the northeast.

Maximum temperatures will rise compared to recent days in the Pyrenees and the south of the country, reaching up to 25°C in the Tarragona region. However, they will remain moderate elsewhere, even dropping slightly between Barcelona and Girona due to the presence of more cloudy periods. Most temperatures will hover between 16°C and 22°C. The atmosphere will be full of autumn in the morning, with cold weather and still frost at the high altitudes of the Pyrenees, although minimum temperatures have risen slightly.

Milder days and cool nights

Starting Friday, temperatures will gradually rise, and in the coming days, temperatures will normalize, as we're coming from quite low altitudes. Despite the remnants of some very localized showers in the Pyrenees and the northeast, the weather will generally remain calm. Early mornings will remain cool, especially in the Pyrenees, with lows reminiscent of the earliest days of autumn. On the coast, however, the gentle sea will mean that temperatures will remain below 17°C at some observatories. In the West, central Catalonia, and inland Girona, temperatures will range between 9°C and 11°C. In the Pyrenean valleys, it will be very cool (or cold), staying around 5°C. Many highs will range between 21°C and 26°C.
