More scattered showers, awaiting new storms for Monday
Temperatures on the rise, but with quite bearable heat
BarcelonaSaturday morning thunderstorms discharged strongly offshore and those that hit land left intense downpours. In Baix Penedès, it discharged with great intensity and the showers were torrential. In El Vendrell, for example, they accumulated 146 l/m2, 137 l/m2 in Torredembarra and 109 l/m2 in Calafell.
In some cases, the rain fell with great intensity and discharged more than 40 mm in half an hour. The Torredembarra station even measured 54.5 mm in 30 minutes, of which 2.8 mm in 1 minute (a true downpour!).
Sunday with new showers and cooler weather
Today there will be more clear spells, especially on the central coast, the north coast and in Empordà, as well as in the Pyrenees. During the first part of the day, some showers are not ruled out in the southern regions. There will be some showers around the Ebro Delta and south of Camp de Tarragona. They will be of weak or moderate intensity, although locally they will be strong. Precipitation amounts will accumulate, generally between scarce and not very abundant, although locally they will be abundant.
During the afternooncloud buildups will grow in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, which could bring moderate intensity showers. Some thunderstorms could occur in Central Catalonia and, at the end of the day, the storm would discharge offshore and on the central coast.
The warnings for intense showers are maintained, with accumulations of up to 20 mm in half an hour. Be careful with flood-prone areas and with streams.
The temperature will remain subdued early in the morning in the Pyrenees, with lows of 12°C in the valleys. During the day it will be hotter compared to Saturday. We will reach 35°C in Ponent and in the rest of the country we will be between 30°C and 33°C. Mid next week, a more marked increase is expected and heat spikes of up to 36°C in the Lleida plain and the Ebro.
During the morning the wind will remain calm, except for the south, where it will blow gently from the east. During the afternoon it will strengthen, with the sea being a little rougher.
