BarcelonaThe high-pressure system that settled over us this weekend will continue to bring very mild weather for much of this coming week. Blocking the passage of storms means that winds will be weak or nonexistent. Furthermore, solar radiation begins to intensify from this time of year, all of which contributes to a very pleasant atmosphere, with spring-like temperatures at times during the middle of the day. Yesterday, highs reached nearly 23 or 24°C in some areas of the pre-coastal region, the interior of the Girona region, and the Ebro Valley. In Aldover (Baix Ebre), temperatures reached 23.9°C, in Vallirana (Baix Llobregat) 23.5°C, and in the city of Girona, 22°C. In Vinebre and El Masroig, temperatures climbed to 21°C, and in Vielha, 19°C. We can expect sunny days, morning fog or mist, thermal inversion - colder mornings at lower elevations than at higher elevations - and a marked thermal contrast between day and night, with an oscillation that can reach more than 20 °C between day and night in the interior of the country.

Weather forecast for Monday the 23rd in the morning.

A peaceful spring Monday

Calm weather will prevail at the start of this week. It will be generally sunny, with new morning fog appearing in areas such as the Vic plain and the central plateau, along with some mist in the Ebro valley. Some thin bands of cloud are possible. Additionally, some low clouds or local fog may appear along the coast due to the contrast between the cold sea water and the milder air temperature. On the central and northern coast, temperatures will range between 17 and 19°C. In the central and southern pre-coastal areas and the Terres de l'Ebre, temperatures could reach or exceed 23°C again, while in the Camp de Tarragona, highs will range between 19 and 21°C. Nights will remain moderately cool, especially inland, with lows between 3 and 7°C, depending on the area. In the Pyrenees, we will continue to experience temperature inversions, with very mild frosts in the valleys and positive temperatures above 2,000 m.

Weather forecast for Monday the 23rd in the afternoon.

A week without significant changes, with clouds on the coast.

Tuesday will continue with the same weather pattern, dominated by the anticyclone and bringing considerable atmospheric stability. It will feel spring-like during the middle of the day, although a jacket will still be necessary in inland areas early in the morning, with temperatures locally remaining below 2°C in the Ponent region, the interior of the Ebro valley, and Central Catalonia. Maximum temperatures, on the other hand, will rise further, and the overall weather will be somewhat warm. Many highs are expected to reach between 17°C and 23°C, or even higher in the south of the country. For example, in the Terres de l'Ebre region, they could reach 24 or 25°C. Along the coast, however, temperatures will be somewhat moderated—around 19°C—by the influence of the sea, which is still cool at this time of year. Sea fog may appear in some areas of the Catalan coast.

The stable weather will continue for much of the week. Temperature inversions will persist, with nighttime lows dropping below 0°C in the valleys and remaining above 2,000 meters above sea level above 3°C or 4°C. The sea will remain calm, with a lower than normal water level due to high pressure. No significant changes or rainfall are expected, nor are any winter cold snaps anticipated. However, from Thursday onwards, some moisture from the Mediterranean will generate a few coastal clouds, but these will not bring any significant changes to the weather.
