Barcelona L'ARA suggests some plans throughout the country for this weekend.
Biennial of Thought 2026
Barcelona. Until October 18th
The Biennial of Thought once again turns Barcelona's public spaces into a meeting point and a place for debate. Under the slogan "Unleashing the present", the proposal invites us to rethink the here and now from the cities, with questions about resistance against authoritarianism, the improvement of urban life, and solidarity in the face of neoliberal policies. It will feature the presence of great national and international names, such as Mariana Enriquez and Patrick Radden Keefe.
Barcelona Draws
October 17th and 18th
The Barcelona Dibuixa festival fills the capital with creativity through activities that take drawing beyond paper and make it dialogue with dance, photography, architecture, or nature. Museums, libraries, and facilities throughout the city host proposals from artists such as Marina Sáez at the Picasso Museum, Aleix Font Arroyo at the Natural Science Museum's Greenhouse, Sixe Paredes, or Rocío Quillahuaman. All activities are free and open to all audiences, whether you know how to draw or not.
The Deer Rut
Alt Pallars National Hunting Reserve and Alt Pirineu Natural Park. Until October 18th
It is the last weekend to listen to the deer rut in the Alto Pallars National Hunting Reserve. The observation points at Alós d’Isil, Cerbi, and les Ares are free, accessible, and do not require reservations, and they operate at dawn and dusk, when there are more chances of success. They recommend going with warm clothing, binoculars, and plenty of silence.
15th Tronada Festival
Lleida. From October 14th to 17th
The fifteenth edition of the Tronada Festival once again turns the squares and streets of Lleida into stages open to street arts and popular culture. The big day will be Saturday, when the Commercial Axis and the city center will be filled with parades of giants and big-heads, traditional music, aerial circus, magic, clowns, and storytellers. All activities are free.
21st Ebro Letters Conference
Amposta. Until October 17th
The Sebastià Juan Arbó Regional Library is celebrating the Ebro Letters Conference these days, a meeting point for authors, readers, and the territory to champion a literature rooted in the Ebro Lands and open to the world. Saturday concentrates a large part of the program: a literary café with Ebro authors, a tribute to Sebastià Juan Arbó, round tables, a poetry recital linked to water, family activities, and a closing event with vermouth.
8th Palamós Craft Beer Festival
Palamós. October 17th
The Palamós craft beer festival –Mar de Birres– reaches its eighth edition and returns to the net drying area, next to the fishing pier. A full day to taste beers from Catalan producers, with food trucks, live music and a free children's area for families.
29th Mediterranean Fair
Manresa. From October 15th to 18th
The 29th edition of the Fira Mediterrània invites you to experience popular culture firsthand: singing, dancing, playing, and coming together. There are 85 proposals inspired by tradition and roots, with the street as the main protagonist. The Valencian singer Sandra Monfort will open the fair with Terra de guapes, and the Roots Music Orchestra of Catalonia will close it with Decostumari, a street show with dancers from various traditional dance groups.
13th Protest Festival
Vic. Until October 18th
The new edition of Protesta, with the slogan “Stories that touch you” and the skin as its thematic axis, faces its final weekend with social cinema from all over the world and activities throughout the city. On Saturday, short film marathons, the live podcast Guarres!, the screening of The history of concrete, by John Wilson, and late-night karaoke at La Jazz Cava. Great Romesco Festival and Tarragona Marida Fair
Tarragona. From October 16th to 18th
This weekend, romesco and wine from the province's designations of origin will take over the upper section of the Rambla Nova in Tarragona. The Great Romesco Festival, heir to the congress held last year, and the second edition of the Tarragona Marida fair join together in a program for all audiences, featuring popular tastings, cooking sessions, round tables, and family activities. Carme Ruscalleda will be one of the protagonists of the inaugural event on Saturday, alongside Tarragona chefs David Solé and Moha Quach.
Catalonia Solidarity Economy Festival
Barcelona. October 17th and 18th
The third edition of the FESC returns to the Estación del Norte park to prove, in a festive key, that the social and solidarity economy is a real alternative to capitalism. This year, the focus of the programming is anti-fascism, and there will be music, talks, games, workshops, and meeting spaces for all ages, as well as a market of social and solidarity economy products. Admission is free.
