BarcelonaThe Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Madrid has opened investigative proceedings against the youtuber and content creator Iñaki Angulo, known for his videos about current events at Real Madrid, following homophobic statements about Héctor Bellerín, a Betis player with a recent past at Barça who is often in the news for his public progressive statements.
The complaint was filed a month ago by the Association for Transparency and Democracy in Sport, which was later joined by nearly a hundred people, after Angulo, in one of his live YouTube broadcasts, made homophobic comments against Bellerín during the match that Betis played against Real Madrid, which the Andalusians ended up winning thanks to a goal in the final minutes (1-0). It was the first defeat for José Mourinho's team this season.
According to the complaint, in that live broadcast Angulo referred to Bellerín's supposed tastes, such as painting his nails, which led him to label him a "closeted faggot". The Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating whether the statements constitute a hate crime against fundamental rights and public freedoms.
Specifically, the youtuber said: "Today there is a guy who paints his nails, who only reads women's books, who is probably a closeted faggot, who is a leftist, who votes for socialism. I won't say his name, we'll call him them so they are happy. He wants Moors everywhere except in his own home. This guy, three years earlier and without even getting off the bus, Vinícius forces a penalty on him and he eats it up. Today, them... I saw Vinícius against them and didn't know who the faggot was.".
