The Consortium for Linguistic Normalization (CPNL) will open a new registration period for Catalan courses from December 16 to 21. Interested individuals will be able to choose the course that best suits their level and needs. To formalize the registration, it will be necessary to previously certify one's Catalan level, if applicable. The 012 citizen service telephone number of the Government of Catalonia also offers information on the training offer and registration procedures.
Before December 11, the corresponding certificate must be presented or a level test must be requested. This procedure is only necessary for people who are enrolling in the CPNL for the first time or who took their last level test more than two years ago. From November 27, it will be possible to consult the entire offer in the course finder and choose the modality that is most convenient.
A tailored offer
The Consortium for Linguistic Normalization (CPNL) has offered 46,169 places in its own courses this September, a 6.6% increase compared to the same period last year. The growth has been possible due to the incorporation of more than 100 technicians, thanks to the shock plan for teaching Catalan to adults and the agreement between the CPNL and the Barcelona City Council.
In addition to expanding the offer of its own courses, the Department of Linguistic Policy and the CPNL are committed to increasing the offer of Catalan courses coordinated with local administrations, entities, and organizations from different sectors. In this modality of courses, each administration or entity can identify specific needs of its environment, organize the course in coordination with the CPNL, and it is the Department that covers the costs of teaching staff and teaching materials through a subsidy line.
Coordinated courses are consolidating themselves as an especially flexible tool to expand learning opportunities for Catalan, increase the capillarity of the offer by reaching new groups, schedules, and environments, and de-seasonalize the enrollment periods for courses, which are thus less limited by the quarterly calendar. So far, these courses have already provided 4,635 places for levels A1 and A2, which are complementary to those in September, so that at this moment the global offer for this quarter reaches 50,804 places between own and coordinated courses that will be launched during the coming weeks.

Enrollments in CPNL Catalan courses are increasing, especially at the intermediate and advanced levels. B1 is seeing a growth of 25.7%, B2 of 11.6%, and C1 of 18.4%, a trend that points to greater continuity in language learning. Regarding the C2 level, 90 courses with 1,807 places have been offered this September, an offer that will be expanded throughout the term in collaboration with various entities, especially to meet the demand of the teaching sector.
