Vacation

What long weekends and holidays are left in Barcelona in 2025?

The work calendar for the last few months of the year will not bring us the best news.

September arrives, routine returns, and, still with the taste of the holidays, it's inevitable to look at the calendar to see if we'll be able to enjoy a long weekend before the Christmas holidays arrive. But the final stretch of 2025 doesn't look particularly good for people looking forward to holidays:

The National Day of Catalonia: the first major holiday of September

The return from vacation starts well, as September 11th falls on a Thursday, and those who can afford a holiday can enjoy a four-day weekend on Friday to end the summer on a high.

La Mercè: local festival in Barcelona and surrounding areas

If you couldn't take a long weekend for the Diada, Barcelona residents and some residents of the metropolitan area will still have a second chance in September. Mercè also falls during the week, specifically on Wednesday. However, the option of taking a five-day long weekend is surely for the privileged.

October and November, with few opportunities

October 12th, for those celebrating it, falls on a Sunday, so it's neither a holiday nor a long weekend. The same goes for Tots Sants, which this year falls on a Saturday. The opportunity to enjoy a long weekend for chestnut feasts disappears. And that's not all.

The December long weekend leaves us with a sweet tooth.

As if that weren't enough, December 6th and 8th, Constitution Day and Immaculate Conception Day, fall on a Saturday and Monday, respectively. We'll have a long weekend, but nothing compared to the long weekend we've had in other years.

Good news for the holidays.

The calendar has some good news for the end of the year: Christmas Day falls on a Thursday, and Sant Esteve on a Friday. We'll be able to enjoy a four-day long weekend to celebrate the Christmas holidays properly.
