Valencia couple arrested for allegedly killing a baby in Santa Barbara
The girl's grandfather reported her disappearance and they had been looking for her since Friday
BarcelonaThe national police have arrested a couple in Valencia for allegedly killing a baby in Santa Bàrbara (Montsià). The girl had been missing since Friday in a property in the municipality, which the Mossos d'Esquadra searched without finding any trace of the child, but did find about thirty dead or malnourished dogs.
In fact, the child's grandfather had filed a missing person report and the police were investigating the relationship the child's parents might have had. Finally, they were arrested this Wednesday at half past eight at the Estació del Nord, in the center of Valencia.
According to the newspaper Levante, the grandfather assured the police that his daughter-in-law, the baby's mother, had informed him of the child's death and that she had buried her at home in a cardboard box. Investigators are now working to confirm the child's existence, as the grandfather who reported her missing never knew her. However, he had known the other five children of the detainees.
The investigation is in the hands of a court in Amposta which has kept the case secret and had issued an order to arrest the baby's parents. The Mossos d'Esquadra have inspected a dwelling in the vicinity of Carrer Major in Santa Bàrbara looking for the child, and the property has been sealed since about thirty dogs, some dead and others malnourished, were found there last weekend.
