The Government will invest 30 million euros so that the town councils deal with homelessness
The Ombudsman promotes a country agreement to resolve the crisis before 2035
BarcelonaThe Minister of Social Rights and Inclusion, Raül Moreno, announced this Friday that his department will allocate 30 million euros so that municipalities can tackle homelessness, which means doubling the amount allocated until now. "We are not starting from scratch and we are increasing resources," he stated in remarks to reporters after the Institutional Roundtable for Addressing Homelessness, held at the Can Batlló site in Barcelona.
In this same meeting, the Ombudsman of Catalonia had already urged the Government to increase resources for homelessness. Specifically, it urged allocating around 0.15% of the Generalitat's budget, a minimum of 73 million euros. Esther Giménez-Salinas has also promoted a country-wide agreement with 35 measures to resolve the homelessness crisis before 2035.
