Health opens a file at Vall d'Hebron Hospital for the case of the abused baby
This Friday, several relatives of the suspects are summoned to testify before the judge
The Department of Health has also opened an informative file at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital for the case of the mistreated baby, even though it was the center that activated the protocol, as reported by El Periódico. The reason for the file is that the protocol would not have been activated until March 18, even though the baby was admitted on the 16th, referred from Sant Pau. Previously, however, he had passed through other centers. Sources from Vall d'Hebron, for their part, have indicated that they will present allegations to the report, which foresees an initial fine of 6,000 euros, the same as the centers through which the baby passed and did not activate the protocol. These are the Sant Pau and Sant Joan de Déu hospitals and the CAP Roger de Flor. At the moment, the file is in the allegations phase.
The healthcare professionals at Vall d'Hebron Hospital who treated the mistreated baby, who was admitted to the ICU, agree that the infant's injuries were not accidental and see them as compatible with child abuse. Five professionals testified this Thursday before the judge investigating the infant's parents for alleged mistreatment, injuries, and sexual assault. According to sources present at the testimony, these professionals stated that some of these injuries even posed a life-threatening risk to the baby, who was five weeks old when admitted to the hospital and spent a month hospitalized. According to legal sources, both she and the pediatric surgeon who attended the infant insisted that they had never in their professional careers seen such severe anal injuries as those the child had.
This week, the investigation has chained three days of witness testimonies in the case, and this Friday, several relatives of the suspects are summoned to testify.
