BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) arrested a doctor this Monday morning in Blanes for allegedly sexually assaulting a patient at the Santa Caterina Hospital in Salt (Gironès). According to El Punt Avui and confirmed by ARA, the police arrested the 66-year-old man for a crime against sexual freedom. The incident was reported before midnight on September 11, and officers have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances.
The victim is a vulnerable woman who attended the hospital on Wednesday of last week, according to the Girona-based outlet. The next day, the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) found her wandering alone and disoriented through the streets of Blanes. She then explained to officers that she had woken up naked in bed in a house she didn't know, and the Catalan police began an investigation to clarify the events.
According to health sources told ARA, the hospital suspended the detainee from its activities when it learned of the complaint and opened an investigation file that is still ongoing. Furthermore, the center made itself available to the patient and her family. Police sources explain that the case is under investigation and the man is expected to be brought before the Blanes duty court soon. The detainee had a criminal record: he was convicted in 2010 for document falsification and obstruction of justice.
