This is the first image in a photo gallery shared on his Instagram account, where he has more than eleven million followers, explaining the Scottish musician and DJ's good news: "July 20th our boy arrived. Micah is here!" reads the accompanying text. It's the name he and Vick Hope have given their first child. The rest of the photographs show moments of the birth and the placenta, which they have preserved to turn into edible capsules.
The baby was born on July 20th in Ibiza, where the couple currently resides. The birth was natural and, as the images show, in a home environment: Hope is in an inflatable pool and Harris lifts the baby out of the water. There are also photographs of the dehydration process of the placenta, which has upset some users. "I wasn't prepared for the placenta photo," reads one of the comments. Others welcome the little one and celebrate his arrival.
The placenta is the organ that supplies oxygen and nutrients to the fetus during pregnancy through the umbilical cord. Although it is expelled during childbirth, some believe that its consumption can have many benefits for the mother, such as helping with milk production, reducing the effects of postpartum depression, and contributing to postnatal recovery. In recent years, some celebrities have shared on social media that they have turned the placenta into capsules or smoothies. Model Chrissy Teigen, actress Mandy Moore, and the Kardashians are some of the celebrities who have helped popularize this option.
Harris and Hope made their first public appearance in May 2022 at The Chelsea Flower Show. Six months later, they got engaged: he got down on one knee under one of the trees at the Terra Masia estate in Ibiza, which he bought the same year. The wedding took place in September 2023 at Hulne Priory, a former convent in northern England dating back to 1240. It was a family ceremony, featuring a live performance by Nile Rodgers.
