The first castle of ten arrives at the Neus
The greens unload the 3d10fm on a day where Jove exhibits extra-premium muscle and Bordegassos and Nens take a step forward
Vilanova i la GeltrúThe Feast of Our Lady of the Snows confirmed this Saturday that it continues to be one of the major events on the casteller calendar. On the tenth anniversary of its consolidation as a 'plaça de deu' (a square with ten-level towers), the four teams came out determined to show their best cards. Each pursued different objectives, but all opened the performance with the peak they have reached this season, on a day of extremely high level that ended with the Castellers de Vilafranca signing the best performance ever seen in the Vilanova square.
The first classic by Bordegassos
Els Bordegassos de Vilanova played hosts with a performance that confirms the solidity of their course. They opened with a 3d8 unloaded with the naturalness of someone who has a tower completely internalized. Without any surprise, with good measurements and a very synchronized cast, they completed it with that feeling of mastery that only repeated structures give over and over again. In the second round, they unloaded an equally placid 4d8. The flourish arrived with an excellent 2d7, executed with solvency. In this way, the Vilanova team signed the classic eight for the first time this season. Optimism, however, went beyond what was seen in the square. The good tests of the 2d8f in rehearsals fuel the confidence that the leap is imminent, a feeling that the group celebrated at the end of the performance by singing "one more floor".
A big step forward for the Nens
The Nens del Vendrell also left Vilanova with reasons to smile. In the first round, they unloaded an impeccable 4d8, the twelfth of the season, built with excellent dimensions. The key moment, however, arrived in the second round. The 3d8 had been a pending task since they loaded it for Santa Teresa last October. This time, however, they did resolve it with serenity. Finally, they closed the performance with a good 2d7.
La Jove premieres the pd8fm
The Colla Jove Xiquets de Tarragona continues to make giant leaps. The Tarragona-based team began the Festa Major de les Neus by completing their third 2d9fm of the season, a castle that until a few years ago represented one of the group's major headaches and has now become their most reliable extra-level structure. The folres and manilles once again offered an image of enormous consistency, and the group conveyed security from start to finish. The second round served to regain sensations with a much more solvent 3d9f than the one they completed a few days ago in Vilallonga del Camp. An important step to continue building the necessary confidence before facing the challenge of the 3d10fm. Immediately after came a 4d9f that was, probably, the best the group has completed in a long time. After the Sant Joan attempt and the castle completed in Vilallonga, this time the four climbed solidly from the first moment. The final touch was a well-worked pd8fm, the first of the season, which rounded off a top-level performance.
Poker of extra-level structures from the greens
All eyes were on the Castellers de Vilafranca. The 'verds' arrived at Les Neus with a clear objective: to turn the celebration into the setting for the season's first ten-level tower. Not only did they achieve it, but they also did so with a performance that is now part of the square's history. The 3d10fm opened their performance. It was the first time the Vilafranca team had opted for this starting tower at Les Neus, a square where they had already brought it on six occasions. The result was a new successful descent, added to those of the years 2016, 2018, 2024, and 2025. After having shown a practically perfect 3d9f throughout the season, the addition of one more level came naturally. A slight movement during the ascent did not alter the structure's dominance, and the speed of the children ultimately secured the first ten-level tower of 2026.
The second round brought a majestic 4d9fa, the fifth they have successfully descended this year, increasingly consolidated within the Vilafranca team's repertoire. The 5d9f, in the third round, required more effort than the 3d10fm, but it also ended with a successful descent, confirming that the 'verds' have fully recovered another of their great structures after debuting it this season in Sitges. The icing on the cake was provided by the pd8fm. All in all, the tenth anniversary of Les Neus as a difficult ten-level square could hardly have had a better performance.
