Barcelona27 feature films and 11 series. This is the record number of fiction productions that 3Cat will participate in this 2026, as detailed this Wednesday by the Corporation in a meeting with the press. Rosa Romà, president of the entity; Sigfrid Gras, director of TV3, and Oriol Sala-Patau, head of the fiction department, boasted about the public television's commitment to the creation of fiction in Catalan and assured that the birth of the online platform has led to more support being given to it. "Fiction is the most consumed on 3Cat," remarked Gras. According to the Corporation, series accumulate more than a third of the platform's total views and are the genre that attracts young audiences.

Regarding series, new titles will premiere this 2026 such as Gènesi, focused on Ferran Adrià and the explosion of El Bulli; In vitro, starring Bruna Cusí and set in a fertility clinic, and Lia, which delves into artificial intelligence and features Emma Vilarasau. New seasons of Jo mai mai and La casa nostra will also arrive. During the first half of this year, Pubertat, produced in collaboration with HBO Max and which has already been seen on that platform, will premiere. During the meeting with the press, the heads of 3Cat did not hide that the waiting time to be able to premiere Leticia Dolera's series seemed too long. In this regard, Romà admitted that regarding collaboration with other platforms such as HBO Max or Netflix, they are still finalizing which strategies work best in terms of release schedules. In the case of Pubertat, the public broadcaster had to wait almost half a year compared to its launch on HBO Max. Ravalejar, one of 3Cat's major titles for this year, will be available in May on HBO Max and will not reach public television until the end of 2026 or after the holidays.

Among 3Cat's series projects, there is also a new season of Cites Barcelona, which will once again be made in collaboration with Prime Video. The Corporation's officials have highlighted that they have managed to increase the presence of Catalan in the series and that three of the four episodes in the third season will be in Catalan. On the other hand, the public television has decided not to be part of the film that Pau Freixas is preparing from the romantic franchise. The feature film, announced on Tuesday, will be exclusively for Prime Video and will be set on Saint George's Day.

3Cat has also shared the films it has participated in that will premiere this 2026 and which can be seen either in cinemas or on television. In addition to Balandrau, vent salvatge, which has already landed in cinemas with success, 3Cat is one of the promoters of Aina Clotet's first feature film as a director, Viva. The film, which Clotet also stars in, focuses on a woman who has just overcome breast cancer and decides to break free from everything to seize life. "It is a difficult film but one that places Clotet in a very important position in our cinematography," explained Sala-Patau. The film catalog for 2026 will also include two musicals biopics with two very different perspectives: Els de Sau, about the group of Carles Sabater and Pep Sala, and Caballé. The other titles this year will be two adaptations of successful plays such as Burundanga and Escape room 2, and two original stories, Cronos (a story about the 17-A with Enric Auquer) and Sants (a thriller with Victoria Luengo).

Rosa Romà assured that collaboration and alliances with other platforms continue to be one of the pillars of her commitment to fiction. "Ten years ago we could go alone and be competitive, but nowadays the fiction we want to produce requires alliances with other platforms to have more muscle," she recalled. For his part, Sigfrid Gras has shown himself to be open to recovering his own fiction from other platforms, as La 1 did a few days ago with Anatomía de un instante, from Movistar+. However, he acknowledged that Telefónica's platform has historically been reluctant to share its productions. "For five years I have been asking them for El dia de mañana (a series by Mariano Barroso set in Barcelona during the dictatorship). We will continue to insist," he said.
