BarcelonaThe controversy over the infiltration of two agents of the Mossos d'Esquadra into a teachers' assembly has now reached the judicial sphere. The first complaint filed points to the Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon; the Director General of the Mossos, Josep Lluís Trapero, and the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, for alleged crimes against the exercise of fundamental rights and public liberties. It was filed this Tuesday in the Barcelona courts by the Association of Lawyers of Osona in Defense of Human Rights.

the infiltration of two Mossos d'Esquadra agents into a teachers' assemblyThis police action has led to political criticism and calls for resignation. In fact, other entities had already announced their intention to take the case to justice. The USTEC union, the largest among teachers, announced this Monday that it was studying the possibility of filing a lawsuit for violation of fundamental rights before the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), and that it would also take the case to the Catalan Data Protection Authority. The union reproaches the Government for treating workers "as a public order threat" and warns about the normalization of infiltration, surveillance, identification, and intimidation within the framework of educational mobilizations.

As explained by ARA, the two plainclothes officers were from the General Information Commissioner's Office of the Mossos, and they were carrying out a "risk assessment" and obtaining information regarding the labor dispute between the Department of Education and the unions. Sources from the force say that the function of this unit is to gather information to anticipate scenarios and be able to size police operations for future mobilizations. Entering an assembly, according to sources consulted by this newspaper, is not usually such a common dynamic, although some sources clarify that it is not an exceptional operation.

Parlon and Trapero will give explanations

The Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon, and the Director General of the Police, Josep Lluís Trapero, will appear this Wednesday afternoon in Parliament, specifically in the committee on interior and public security, to give explanations for the infiltration of the Mossos in the teachers' assembly.

"From the government, whenever appearances have been requested, we have attended all of them," said the Minister of Territory and spokesperson for the Government, Sílvia Paneque, at a press conference this Tuesday, after the executive council, where she confirmed the appearance of the Minister of the Interior. Paneque did not respond to criticism from some groups, who have reproached the Government for not having a joint appearance also with the Minister of Education, Esther Niubó.

Regarding the infiltration, Paneque insisted on the "autonomy" of the commanders when making their decisions: "The decision is made from an operational point of view," she said. The spokesperson, in this sense, reiterated what Minister Parlon announced on Monday: that the Mossos will review "the appropriateness" and "proportionality" of the infiltration.
