Sunday family shows in Gerona

VENUE: Various rooms in Girona / DATE: January 18

On Sunday, families can choose from a wide range of theatrical and musical offerings in the city of Girona. The concert is scheduled at the Auditori (6 pm). Play!The performance, by the duo Ual·la!, uses voices, rhythm, and objects such as balls and plastic bags. It will take place at the Municipal Theatre (11 a.m. and 4 p.m.). WaveLaura Alcalá Freudenthal and LaSúbita present a small-format, visual, and poetic show that uses play to tell a story. At La Planeta (12 pm and 6 pm), the show Heads, by Pocacosa Teatre, tells an old Catalan fable about a dragon.

January's losses bring La Garoinada to Palafrugell

LOCATION: Various restaurants in Palafrugell / DATE: Until March 29

During the January fishing season, sea urchins (also known as hedgehogs or urizos, among other names) are at their peak for enjoyment, and the municipality of Palafrugell takes advantage of this to celebrate the La Garoinada gastronomic festival. Restaurants from Palafrugell and the other towns in the municipality (Calella, Llafranc, and Tamariu) participate. This year's menu consists of a sea urchin starter, a main course of "cachoflino" (a type of fish) or an alternative dish, and a dessert of Girona-style chucho (a type of fish).

The Big Night of the Nieve! festival at La Mirona venue

The Nieve! festival celebrates its Grand Night at La Mirona venue with a selection of independent and avant-garde proposals, including performances by Triángulo de Amor Bizarro and Mourn.

Santa Pau Bean Fair

PLACE: Santa Pau / DATE: January 17 and 18

Santa Pau celebrates a two-day fair dedicated to its most prized gastronomic product, the bean. The fair opens on Saturday the 17th in the evening with a dinner and a performance by the group Xibarri. The following day, the streets and squares of this Garrotxí village will be filled with stalls selling artisanal products, and a parade will take place led by the group Es Reguinyol, Xeremiers de Muro. At midday, the blessing of animals and the bean stew will be held in the parish church, and the stew will be available for tasting later in the main square.

Exhibition on the sculptural art of Pladevall

LOCATION: Las Bernardes (Salt) / DATE: Until February 28

The sample Zenith TemplesThe sculpture by Enric Pladevall is a virtual project that connects megalithic architectural structures with Xintoist temples. Wooden logs, geometric structures, concrete formwork, and lights are projected at the zenith and become part of these temples, creating spaces for reflection on mysticism, poetics, and art.
