Always return to Roig Robí: today to taste the truffle menu

The restaurant on Seneca Street in Barcelona is offering a themed menu until early April, in addition to its regular menu items.

BarcelonaRoig Robí, one of Barcelona's great Catalan restaurants, has just launched a truffle-focused menu, and that's reason enough to return today. Round tables, white tablecloths, the warmth of wood, a wine cellar stocked with Catalan wines, and a garden that, in good weather, is truly inviting. So much so, that right on the restaurant's entrance you'll read: "Roig Robí, restaurant with a garden."

But today we're going for the truffle menu, and Joan Crosas, owner and head waiter, suggests choosing the dishes you'd like, which will be finished with truffle, or opting for one of two tasting menus: the first, with five courses, costs 80 euros; the second, with seven courses, 110 euros. Both include one dish that's worth a stop: the artichoke cream with truffle. If artichokes are at their peak, truffles add flavor and intensity. Both menus also conclude with an artisanal ice cream, made at Roig Robí, featuring truffle and chocolate truffle, which is one of the menu's great discoveries: the chocolate pairs beautifully.

If you prefer to explore on your own and choose your dishes, the menu offers risotto, sea bass, beef tenderloin, and oxtail timbale with mashed potatoes, as well as two dishes that deserve special mention: the tagliolini [See them in the photo] and the cannelloni. Both are memorable, and will make you think that you always have to return to Roig Robí.
