BarcelonaBanc Sabadell recorded a net profit of 1.376 billion euros by September, 1% less than during the same period of the previous year. The entity continued to note the sale of its British subsidiary, TSB, to Banco Santander, which still had a net contribution of 79 million euros during the first four months of 2026 when it was still under its ownership, 63.7% less than a year ago.

As part of its strategy to demonstrate that it can continue on its own after the failure of the BBVA takeover bid over a year ago, the bank recorded a recurrent net profit of 405 million in the third quarter, 13% more than during the previous one, from April to June. These figures demonstrate "the strength of the business in Spain", where its activity is concentrated; and its capacity to "continue promoting profitable and sustainable growth", according to the presentation sent to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV). In a statement, the bank's CEO, Marc Armengol, highlights the entity's ability to "grow the business sustainably", improving revenues and containing costs.

The entity has announced the second remuneration to shareholders charged to this year's results, with an interim dividend of seven cents per share, which will be paid on December 29th. This remuneration is in addition to the share buyback program for 331 million initiated in July and comes after the extraordinary dividend of 50 cents per share for the sale of TSB. Compensation to shareholders is linked to the bank's ability to generate capital organically, the entity asserts. The CET1 fully loaded solvency ratio, the highest quality indicator, stood at 13.12%.

Sabadell, which has incorporated the French BPCE as a stable partner just as it is with the insurer Zurich, has benefited from the dynamism of commercial activity, with which the banking business has increased quarterly by 2.4%. In the first nine months of the fiscal year, revenues were 3.677 billion, with a slight increase of 0.1%. This trend, which according to the bank will continue until the end of the year, has raised the return on tangible equity (RoTE) from 13.6% in June to 14.2%. The bank expects to reach the target of 14.5% this year and 16% next year.

The group's outstanding credit, 124.913 billion, increased by 4% year-on-year. In the Spanish market, over the first nine months, it grew by 3%, to 106.434 billion, with a similar increase in credit to SMEs and large companies (45.599 billion), which represents 0.4% year-on-year.

Mortgages on the rise, but consumer credit even more so

Outstanding mortgage credit, 40.716 billion, increased by 3.5% year-on-year, with a 5% rise in new production compared to the previous quarter. Consumer credit stands out, with 5.880 billion and a year-on-year increase of 12.7%, which, in new production, is 13% quarterly. Customer resources, 189.449 billion, increased by 5.6% year-on-year.

In the third quarter, the net interest income, resulting from the difference between what the bank charges for credit and what it pays for deposits, increased by 2%, to 920 million, continuing the upward trend of the second quarter. After reaching 2.694 billion in the first nine months, the entity expects to close the fiscal year with a rise of around 1%.

Commissions improved in the third quarter by 3.7% with respect to the April-June period, to 340 million, and year-on-year between January and September by 2.1%, to 983 million. The delinquency rate continues in a positive trend, falling to 2.4% compared to 2.47% in the previous quarter and 2.75% 12 months earlier.
