BarcelonaThe Catalan multinational Fluidra reinforces its digitalization strategy with the purchase of Datapool, a platform developed by the French company Ecotropy that allows reducing operational costs linked to the use and maintenance of swimming pools.

As the company detailed this Monday in a statement, Datapool allows, through an application, to optimize the water consumption of a facility without the need for works, to monitor and adjust parameters such as temperature or water quality in real time, and to generate automatic reports on the state of the service. According to Fluidra's calculations, operators will be able to reduce operational costs for each facility by between 10% and 25%.

The operation is part of the 20 million euro investment that the Catalan company initiated in 2024, when it launched an investment fund, Fluidra Ventures, to seek pioneering start-ups pioneers in the pool sector and For Fluidra's swimming pool branch commercial director, Thorsten Muck, the acquisition marks "a milestone" in the group's digitalization strategy. "Datapool allows us to accelerate the transition towards an intelligent pool management model by improving efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and offering customers data-driven tools," he pointed out. The new tool will be aimed at both private and commercial clients, as it also allows monitoring data such as capacity or energy consumption of large facilities.

Wave of acquisitions

The operation announced this Monday continues the acquisition strategy that was launched to complement activity in the pool sector. During the first quarter of this year, the Catalan company completed the purchase of the Dutch commercial pool construction company Variopool, agreed in December for a figure of around 20 million euros.

Also during the first three months of 2026, the company chaired by Eloi Planes reported an agreement to acquire the distributor Riaan Pool, in South Africa. On the other hand, the group concluded last December an initial investment in Aiper, the firm of wireless robots for pool cleaning. With that move, the Catalan pool giant gained control of 27% of the US company's capital, an operation valued at 92.5 million euros.
