BarcelonaThe Ebro Motors group has closed a financing agreement of up to 200 million euros to adapt the new paint line (P2) and the new production lines at its plant in the Zona Franca of Barcelona. It also aims to prepare for the brand's next international expansion. The agreement was signed through the subsidiaries Ebro SUV and Ebro Factory with Eximbank (Export-Import Bank of China), which specializes in export credit. The first disbursement of resources from this agreement will be 35 million euros.

According to the terms of the signed pact, the financing is for a ten-year term, with a three-year grace period, and a fixed interest rate of 2.65%. The value of the financing that has been disclosed is estimated, as the operation is denominated in another currency – the Chinese yuan.

This initiative "is a decisive step in the evolution of Ebro Factory towards the progressive incorporation of industrial capabilities at the plant and the comprehensive vehicle manufacturing process in Barcelona," the company highlights. It will allow for multiplying production capacity and facing the brand's international expansion plans. Currently, Ebro is already present in markets such as Portugal, Bulgaria, and Croatia, and will soon land in Slovenia. The group's intention is to reach new markets in the near future.

Consolidating the industrial project

The president of Ebro Motors, Rafael Ruiz, has stated that the agreement "represents a decisive step to face the next stage of Ebro's growth". After having recovered industrial activity in Barcelona, at the facilities previously occupied by Nissan in the Zona Franca, and having advanced in the incorporation of new production processes, the company is "in a position to consolidate an increasingly complete and competitive industrial project and advance in international expansion," he added.

Industrial growth in Barcelona has been consolidating since last March. Proof of this is the development of operations at the new M1 assembly line, which has progressively taken on a higher number of production tasks, according to what the group has explained. This evolution has allowed for moving on to the assembly of vehicles with higher added value, as well as integrating the welding area, equipped with nearly 200 robots.

Ebro has exceeded 20,000 registered vehicles (data from September 2026), has consolidated a market share of 2.2% in Spain and has reached a total of 105 operating points of sale in Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, and Croatia. Regarding the closing of the financial year, the objective is to record a volume of between 26,000 and 29,000 units sold and to end the year with over 110 operating points of sale. The company has the Chinese manufacturer Chery as its industrial partner.
