Charlize Theron has long had no problem being clear and honest when speaking to the press or on podcasts. The actress and producer, who is in the midst of promoting the film Old Guard 2, has been single for years and in a recent appearance on the podcast Call her daddy has called for women to prioritize their desire. Speaking about her own sex life, the 49-year-old actress explained that she's all for casual relationships. "I've probably only had three one-night stands in my entire life, but not long ago I had sex with a 26-year-old guy and it was incredible. I'd never done that before and I thought, 'Oh, that's wonderful,'" Theron explains.

She also confesses that at almost 50, she's having the kind of sex she didn't have in her 20s or 30s. "When I first started having relationships, I would have sex one after another. When I say I'm having sex like I've never had before, it's because I'm not in a relationship. And it's not because I don't want to, but because I see things as they are, without forcing anything. When I meet someone, I can clearly see where things will go," Theron argues. She assures that if she ever has a new stable partner, it will hardly be a man from the Hollywood industry, because she says they don't spark any interest in her.

Although she rules out Hollywood as a place to find a partner, the truth is that throughout her life Theron has been with several actors, some well-known, such as Sean Penn. They were together for more than a year and there were rumors that they were supposed to get married, something she has always denied. "It was a relationship, yes. We were definitely monogamous, but we were only together for a year. We never lived together. I never thought about marrying him. It was nothing like that. I've never wanted to get married. This has never been important to me," she explained in 2020 on the show. The Howard Stern Show.

Daughters, their priority

In the podcast Call her daddy the Oscar winner for Monster She reiterates that she finds marriage an unappealing institution. "I do want a long-term commitment. But I don't need to get married," she emphasizes. In this sense, she explains that her reluctance toward marriage stems from the fear of feeling trapped and with no way out, since her priority is her daughters, Jackson, 12, and Augusto, 9, whom she adopted alone. "I can assure you that no man will move into my house while my daughters are still here," she says emphatically.

Theron, born in South Africa, lived through an adolescence marked by the alcoholism of her father, Charles Theron. When she was 15, her father threatened her and her mother with a gun, which fired three times without touching them. Theron's mother managed to grab the gun and fired it in self-defense, killing her father. "My father was an alcoholic, he wasn't well. And my mother stepped up and protected me. If this happened to me today with my daughters, I would do the exact same thing. That doesn't make it any less unfortunate. It was a night of my life, and I'm still dealing with all the pain I experienced as a young woman," she says on the podcast.
