BarcelonaThe approach of a cold air trough at high altitude has generated significant atmospheric instability and has contributed to a general drop in the thermometer. This Friday the heat was more contained, although in Camp de Tarragona there was a heat spike due to the re-warmed wind that pushed the temperature up to 34.5 °C. In the rest of the territory, the maximum temperature hovered around 30 °C or 32 °C (30.1 °C in the city of Barcelona).

The thunderstorms were more restricted towards the northeast, with heavy downpours expected towards the south during the early morning.

SATURDAY 22

On Saturday morning and until early morning, thunderstorms will move in front of the Catalan coast, and it will be towards the southern coast and the Ebre region where they may eventually reach land. The day will begin with clear spells in the west and north, but between the central coast and Camp de Tarragona, the outlook will be quite different, with the possibility of locally intense storms.

The warnings for heavy rain remain in effect, with showers that can accumulate up to 40 mm in 30 minutes and up to 90 mm in 3 hours:

During the afternoon, showers could be reproduced in other regions of the center and west of the country, as well as in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees. The Girona regions and the central or northern coast will remain somewhat on the sidelines.

The temperature will remain subdued early in the morning in the Pyrenees, with lows of 12°C in the valleys. During the day, it will rise more in the Lleida Pyrenees and the northeast. The highs will not exceed 30°C and, in general terms, we will be between 26°C and 29°C.

SUNDAY 23

Sunday with new showers and cooler weather

The early morning can be turbulent, and some models indicate stormy activity on the Costa Daurada and Camp de Tarragona. More clearings will appear in the morning, and during the afternoon they will growcloudiness in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, which could leave moderate intensity showers. Some thunderstorms may form in Central Catalonia and, at the end of the day, they would discharge out to sea and on the central coast.

The temperature will rise more and it will be hotter. We will reach 34°C in Ponent, and in the rest of the country we will be between 30°C and 33°C. Mid next week, a more marked increase is expected and heat peaks of up to 35°C or 36°C in the Lleida plain and the Ebro.
