BarcelonaThe weather has been much calmer this Tuesday, with only the remnants of a few isolated and light showers in Els Ports and Ponent. Maximum temperatures ranged between 15 and 17 °C in many coastal and pre-coastal areas, making for a pleasant midday. But this relative calm is not here to stay, as we continue to experience dynamic weather due to the passage of more Atlantic fronts. The next ones will be associated with the Atlantic low-pressure system. Leonardowhich will bring a lot of rain to the southern part of the peninsula. Here in Spain, Wednesday will bring a bit of everything, with more cloud cover and some showers in the morning. And on Thursday, a more active front will cross the country, bringing another round of light rain from west to east. All this with temperatures that will continue to fluctuate, but will remain around the average for this time of year.

Forecast map for this Wednesday morning.

Wednesday: very changeable weather

The weather will be changeable this Wednesday due to the passage of a new Atlantic front. During the early morning hours, there will be more cloud cover overall, especially in the west and southern half of the country, where some light showers or drizzle are expected, extending as far as Central Catalonia and the Barcelona area. Showers will be scarce and unlikely to reach the northeast of the country. Light rain is also expected in the morning in the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands. Throughout the day, large clearings will develop, with plenty of sunshine, but in the afternoon, new showers will arrive in the west and on the southern slopes of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida. The snow level will fluctuate between 800 and 1,200 meters in the morning, rising to 1,200 or 1,400 meters in the afternoon. Therefore, light snowfall is expected in the Els Ports area, on the peaks of the Prades mountains, and in Montseny during the morning.

All this with temperatures that will remain similar or drop slightly. A distinctly wintry cold snap, without extremes, is expected early in the morning, with frost in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees and surrounding areas. Most highs will range between 10 and 15 °C, lower in mountainous areas, and below freezing all day at the higher elevations of the Pyrenees, where strong southerly winds will blow.

A downpour on Thursday

A more active front driven by the storm Leonardo A flurry of precipitation will arrive on Thursday, sweeping across the country from west to east. Rain will generally be light, with fresh snow on the southern slopes of the Pyrenees, although the snow level will be considerably higher, reaching up to 1,800 meters. Temperatures will rise between Thursday and Friday due to the arrival of milder, stronger winds from the southwest (garbí and oeste), with the most favorable conditions around midday. All indications point to a very changeable weekend with a risk of further precipitation anywhere and snow in the Pyrenees. This changeable weather, caused by the passage of new fronts, will continue for at least another week and a half.
