The heat will be climbing positions in the coming days
Temperatures will be rising day by day, and by the end of the week there will be afternoon thunderstorms
Anticyclonic calm has taken over our home, with radiant sunshine everywhere and temperatures that are rising. This morning it was still quite cold, but the day was warmer. In fact, the heat will be climbing in the coming days, and we will end the week with many highs around or above 25 °C inland, and even locally reaching or touching 30 °C in Poniente. Values clearly above average, although in principle not as extreme as last week. From Friday and especially during the weekend, spring afternoon showers will reappear in mountainous areas.
Thursday: sun and more heat
Temperatures will rise more this Thursday, both minimums and maximums. Moderate cold early on. A sweater or jacket will become essential depending on the region. But we will have to dress in layers, as in the middle of the day the atmosphere will be warmer, with many values from 21 to 26 °C, locally higher in the interior of the Ebro and Ponent. Thermometers will be more restrained at sea level due to the regulating effect of a very cool sea, still.
All this with radiant sunshine everywhere. Only some morning fog or low clouds will repeat in inland plains and hollows, while in the afternoon some afternoon cloudiness will grow in mountainous areas which will be totally harmless. Light Tramontana wind from dawn and in the morning in the north of Empordà which will eventually disappear.
More heat and afternoon storms at the end of the week
Both Friday and the weekend will see thermometers rise even further, with accentuated heat and values more typical of May than April. Many highs will range between 24 and 28 degrees along the pre-littoral and inland areas, and locally, 30 °C may even be approached or reached in parts of Poniente and the Ebro inland. Milder on the coast, where temperatures will also exceed 20 °C.
Nighttime cold will be much more moderate, and we will experience increasingly accentuated thermal inversion. We will have an anticyclonic situation with overall sunshine, but with some changes in sight. Starting Friday and throughout the weekend, a bit of cold air will arrive at altitude which, upon colliding with the warm air mass affecting us, will cause afternoon cloudiness to grow more energetically in mountainous areas. Therefore, afternoon showers and thunderstorms will increase in parts of the Pyrenees, Pre-Pyrenees, and Los Puertos, while the rest of the country will remain calm. A classic spring situation.
