Sunday's respite before the arrival of new rainfall
The wind will ease as the hours pass, but will still blow with moderate gusts.
BarcelonaThe weekend began with some light showers and a significant gust of wind, details of which you'll find at the end of this article, but the weather will be more stable and calm this Sunday. It snowed again in the Pyrenees during the early hours of Sunday, especially in the western part, but Sunday morning will be cloudy with no further precipitation. However, the unsettled and changeable weather will continue, and we'll start next week with another round of rain.
Sunday: more calm
The weather will be much calmer on Sunday, the first day of February, with more moderate winds and snowfall that will also stop in the Pyrenees after a night of continuous snow. The sky will change: it will be cloudy in the morning, with some intervals of cloud cover, and later in the afternoon, the sun will prevail. Temperatures will be similar or slightly higher, especially at midday, when some thermometers could reach 16 or 17 °C. The wind will decrease considerably, but there will still be moderate gusts along the central and southern coast and pre-coastal areas.
Monday: Candlemas will weep
Two weather fronts will cross the country on Monday, bringing widespread precipitation, although no heavy downpours are expected. On the southern slopes of the Pyrenees, significant snowfall is expected at mid and high elevations, with the snow level gradually lowering throughout the day. In the western Pyrenees, the snow level will drop from 1,800 or 2,000 meters in the morning to 1,200 meters by night. Minimum temperatures will rise due to cloud cover, but maximum temperatures will remain somewhat lower across the country.
Wind balance
The mistral and tramontana winds blew intensely in some parts of the country, especially along the southern coast and pre-coastal areas, in the northern Alt Empordà region, and in the Pyrenean peaks. Winds exceeded 130 km/h in Portbou (136.4 km/h) and El Perelló (130 km/h), and 120 km/h in Miami Platja and Mas de Barberans.
