The weather

Sunday was sunny and foggy, with no prospect of a change in the weather.

The anticyclone will maintain fog in the Ponent region and sunshine and very mild conditions in the rest of the country.

BarcelonaThe weather will be similar across our region these next few days, with sunshine dominating and fog prevailing inland. The weather pattern will continue to be influenced by the anticyclone, bringing calm and mild conditions, elements that favor rising temperatures, as we observed yesterday, with highs reaching 23°C in the Ebro Valley (Aldover and Benissanet). In the city of Barcelona, we recorded 21°C. Throughout this long weekend, we will only see some thin clouds due to the weak Atlantic fronts brushing the western Iberian Peninsula. Temperatures will remain, once again, above average for this time of year.

Weather forecast for Sunday morning.

Sunday: persistent fog in Ponent and sunshine elsewhere

The day is expected to be very calm, although visibility may be reduced during the morning due to some fog banks which, in several areas of western Catalonia, could persist until midday and maintain a gray, cold, and damp atmosphere. The sun will shine in the rest of the region, somewhat obscured by high, thin clouds. The fog will break up inland, giving way to some stratus clouds clinging to low-lying areas. The cold was more moderate early this morning, with only a few light frosts observed in Central Catalonia and the Pyrenean valleys (minimums between -2°C and 0°C). Along the coast, the minimum temperature remained between 7°C and 9°C, except in the Empordà region, where it dropped slightly, resulting in a colder night. Palafrugell recorded 2°C and Sant Pere Pescador 3.6°C. The presence of a mistral wind has kept the minimum temperature above 12°C in the Camp de Tarragona and Ebro regions.

Weather forecast for Sunday afternoon.

Maximum temperatures will rise again, with very mild conditions at midday and values between 17°C and 21°C. In the Ebro region, temperatures could exceed 23°C. Light winds, with a slight land breeze in the morning, will shift to the southwest at midday. There will also be a slight swell along the coast.

Monday with high pressure: sun and fog

The rest of the long weekend will be marked by stability and absolute calm. Sunshine will dominate, with a few increasingly scarce wisps of thin clouds. Morning fog and low clouds will return to inland areas, lasting longer periods in the Pla de Lleida region, where it will be cooler. Fog will keep temperatures down in the morning in the Ponent region, but once it dissipates, highs will reach around 12°C in the city of Lleida, though in more persistent areas, temperatures will not exceed 5°C. In Barcelona and Tarragona, temperatures will again reach up to 20°C, and in the Empordà region, they could approach 22°C. In most of the country, temperatures will remain high for this time of year, with mild midday temperatures and moderately cold nights. Despite the rising temperatures, the temperature difference between day and night will be significant. However, there will be areas of the region where it will be colder, such as the Pla de Lleida, where persistent fog will keep temperatures below 4°C in many cases. In fact, the forecast temperature model shows bluish colors, indicating values between 5 and 7°C lower than what we will register today. In this case, some frosty fog is expected in the Ponent region, and also low temperatures towards the Ebro Valley, where cooled air seeps in during typical anticyclonic conditions. Frost will be mild in the Pyrenean valleys. The anticyclone will remain for much of next week, and no changes are expected at least until next weekend, with the arrival of a front that, at the moment, does not appear to be very active.
