BarcelonaThe heat took a leap forward this Thursday, with very warm weather already from early morning. Over 30 ºC have been surpassed in more inland regions, especially in Ponent and the Ebro interior. Highlights include 34 ºC in Seròs (Segrià) and over 33 ºC reached in municipalities like Castellnou de Seana (Pla d'Urgell), Vinebre (Ribera d'Ebre), Alcarràs (Segrià) or Tàrrega (Urgell). Temperatures that will rise a little more on Friday, with a warm peak that will extend beyond the weekend. We can expect full summer days, with a premature heatwave completely out of place for May, when there is still a month to go until the official arrival of astronomical summer.

In Catalonia, heat records will likely not be broken, as we have had years where summer heat arrives in May. But in other areas of Europe, they cannot be ruled out, especially in western France and southern the United Kingdom. It is an exceptional situation that will continue for a large part of next week. All in all, with sun and anticyclonic calm and some afternoon showers in the Pyrenees. The exception will be found on the coast, where the still cool sea and the presence of some fog or low clouds will slow down the rise in mercury.

Friday: midsummer day

Temperatures will still rise a little more this Friday, with very warm weather for the time of year. In the morning, you will be able to wear short sleeves in many regions, especially along the coast and pre-coast. And in the middle of the day, maximums will range between 27 ºC and 33 ºC in many cases, but will be around 35 ºC in Ponent and Ebre. Mercury will be more restrained on the coast due to maritime influence, with between 23 ºC and 26 ºC. In any case, it will be very hot for the dates everywhere, with mugginess that will also increase.

Forecast map for this Friday afternoon.

All in all with sun and calm throughout the territory. There will only be some low clouds or fog at sea that will, punctually, brush some coastal stretches, where the atmosphere will suddenly become cooler. In the afternoon, clouds will grow in mountainous areas in the north of the country which, at most, may leave some local and unimportant showers in the Pyrenees.

Very warm weekend

Temperatures will remain very scattered throughout the weekend. The same values as Friday will be repeated, more or less, even with a degree or two more. And it will be increasingly likely to register some tropical lows in parts of the coast and the south of the country. In short, we will continue immersed in this full summer atmosphere much earlier than we should, with between 5 and 10 degrees above average. The sultriness will also be noticeable.

The weather will remain fully anticyclonic and generally sunny. Therefore, in addition to summer clothes and sunglasses, don't forget sunscreen, as solar radiation is very strong at this time of year and we can easily burn our skin. Afternoon clouds will increase in the Pyrenees, where some scattered showers will escape.
