Residual sanitation in the coastal and pre-coastal areas, with a colder environment
New showers during the afternoon in the pre-coastal area
BarcelonaThe pocket of cold air descending from northern Europe is moving across the region and has already brought the first showers. The change in weather has been sudden, taking us from a pleasant spring weekend to gray, cool, and rainy conditions. This unsettled weather will continue throughout the night and into the early hours of Monday, with showers expected in the pre-coastal areas, the coast, central Catalonia, the northeast, the Pre-Pyrenees, and the Pyrenees. Rainfall totals of 2 to 8 liters per square meter had already accumulated by this afternoon.2Locally, showers will return and could develop into thunderstorms. Snow is also expected in the Pyrenees, particularly in regions like Ripollès, accompanied by strong northerly winds at higher elevations.
Monday: last showers and cooler weather
The storm will pass quickly tonight, leaving unsettled weather with showers and snow in the eastern Pyrenees. The snow level will drop to 1,400 meters, locally lower, although no more than 5 to 10 cm of snow is expected at higher elevations in the Ripollès region. Showers may produce sleet at higher elevations and hail at lower elevations. Northerly winds will blow, with some gusty conditions at higher altitudes. North of Cap de Creus, the Tramontana wind will create rough seas. During the morning and until midday, some isolated showers are possible along other coastal areas of the central and southern coasts (Camp de Tarragona and pre-coastal areas). Temperatures will range between 17°C and 20°C.
Weather changing next week
Throughout the week we'll have a bit of everything. Between Tuesday and Wednesday, temperatures will rise significantly, making for pleasant and enjoyable days, with the high-pressure system playing a key role. But on Thursday afternoon and Friday, a sudden change in the weather is possible, bringing colder temperatures and snow to the Pyrenees, along with a significant drop in the snow level, with snowfall down to 1,000 meters, or even slightly lower. We'll transition from spring to winter, with the cold being more noticeable in the inland regions. The Tramontana wind will strengthen between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, with gusts exceeding 100 km/h at Cap de Creus and in the Pyrenees, where blizzards could blow strongly at higher elevations.
The beginning of spring, therefore, will bring us days of everything, with good weather and calm, but also sudden weather changes and cold spells, as this season of the year usually brings us.
