The heat of late spring will peak in the coming days
Midweek, temperatures could reach 30°C for the first time this year in the warmest areas of the country
BarcelonaThe anticyclone has been with us for days and helps to maintain very stable and calm weather, far from the winds and instability we had during the first half of Easter. This, combined with increasing sunshine each day, helps to send the mercury soaring, with highs that in recent festive days have already approached 30 °C in Poniente and exceeded 25 °C in many parts of the interior and pre-coastal areas. Values more typical of May than of early April. And pay attention because in the coming days the heat will peak. There is a pocket of cold air between the peninsular west coast and the Canary Islands which, due to its counter-clockwise rotation, will be pushing more warm air and dust in suspension from North Africa towards us, and by mid-week thermometers will rise further and the first 30 ºC of the year could be reached in our area. Needless to say, these are very warm values and clearly above the usual average for this time of year. By the end of the week, however, instability could increase again, with some showers and temperatures beginning to drop.
Tuesday: high clouds and stable mercury
New day of advanced spring, with the novelty of some bands of high clouds that will advance from west to east and that with the passage of hours will reach many points, always more present in the western half of the country. The minimum temperature has dropped a little compared to yesterday, with cool or very moderate cold in the early hours, while the maximums will remain stable and will move again between 20 °C and 23 °C on the coast and between 24 °C and 28 °C in the pre-coastal area and the rest of the interior, and will exceed these records in Ponent and the interior of the Ebro valley. During the morning, banks of low clouds will be repeated, and in the Ebro Delta, some fog banks will form, a direct consequence of the growing contrast between the temperature of the sea and that of the mainland.
Wednesday: more softness
Few changes for Wednesday, marked by weather practically identical to Tuesday's. More high clouds will appear, which will already arrive everywhere, and low morning clouds could make an appearance in more points along the coastline, although with a tendency to lift as the hours pass. The maximum temperature will rise a little more and will already approach the warm peak, which will arrive on Thursday, with an advanced spring atmosphere throughout the country.
On Thursday we will reach the warm peak
The temperature will once again peak inland, especially in Ponent, where it could reach up to 30 or 31 °C and surpass the values reached this Sunday. On the coast, it will remain around 21-23 °C, with a cooler environment due to the maritime effect caused by the sea breeze and with some morning fog banks due to the thermal contrast between the mainland and the sea. The thermal rise will also be noticeable in the rest of the pre-coastal areas, especially in Northern Catalonia, where cities like Perpignan could also reach or approach 30 °C.
