An irreverent black comedy and a luxurious restaurant: what you can't miss this week

What you may have missed and what you definitely can't miss: the cultural and leisure activities of 'Ara Domingo'

The week that begins, with Jordi Garrigós

Some of the things we hope not to miss in the next seven days

I'll be back to watch the documentary seriesOne night in Idaho(Amazon Prime), about the murder of four university students in Moscow (United States) in 2022. Onetrue crimeShocking, not because of the morbid images or descriptions, which are lacking, but because it emphasizes the young women as people, not as victims, which is how we've grown accustomed to seeing them. Furthermore, the human story also emphasizes those left behind—friends and family—much more than the killer. Good taste, above all.

I will read the excellent interview with Hand Habits by Grayson Haver in New York TimesMeg Duffy is the real name of this musician, who became known as Kevin Morby's guitarist and has gradually established herself as one of the best proposals of the American indie scene. On her new album,Blue ReminderHand Habits, whose voice has changed due to testosterone treatments, refers to his new non-binary status.

I will eat at the Can Cassoletes restaurant in Espolla, in the Alt Empordà. It doesn't have the same name as the legendary Ca la Manela, to whom Ludwig Band dedicated a song, but the food is luxurious. The formula: a hearty, abundant, quality-priced menu with traditional Catalan cuisine as the undisputed centerpiece. Their specialty is bouillabaisse.

Notes on what we have seen, heard, tasted and, ultimately, experienced in the last seven days

I'm doneRage, the dark comedy by Félix Sabroso, which premiered its eighth and final episode on HBO Max this Friday. Starring Carmen Machi, Candela Peña, Nathalie Poza, Cecilia Roth, and Pilar Castro, it's one of this summer's funniest and most irreverent fictions. An exercise in intertwined narratives that brings together some of the best actresses on the Spanish scene to tell a story about five women on the edge.

I have tried Vrutal's burgers. Located in Poblenou and the Eixample district, their website claims to be "the only restaurant in Barcelona where you won't have to worry about whether the menu is of animal, plant, or cosmic origin." And, after eating, I can assure you they're right. I walked in unaware it was a vegan burger joint, and despite being more carnivorous than a crocodile, I thoroughly enjoyed what I found. The Chick'n Burger with fried tofu fins, lettuce, mustard and agave sauce, pickles, and coleslaw is a delight.

I have gone at the Disseny Hub to see How to design a revolution: the Chilean way to design, an exhibition on graphic and industrial design during Salvador Allende's government in Chile, from 1970 to 1973. One of the most notable pieces is the first complete and functional reconstruction of the Cybersyn operating room, a project aimed at networking the country's industries for participatory management of their production. It will be on view until November 16.

I couldn't stop thinking about the return to the stage ofArchimedes' principle, which will be back at the Espai Texas until September 21st after its first season. Considered one of the greatest hits of contemporary Catalan theater, it tells the story of a swimming club director who receives a complaint from a group of parents after a swimming instructor hugs and kisses a child in the class. It's one of those performances you can't get out of your head when you leave the theater. If you haven't seen it yet, they're offering a 35% discount on performances in August.
