PalamósBarça wins the derby against Badalona Women (0-4), but loses Kika Nazareth and Clara Serrajordi. This is the toll Pere Romeu had to pay to secure the three points in his visit to Palamós. Kerolin, with a brace, Graham Hansen, from a penalty, and Claudia Pina were the scorers in a match that began to tip in their favor after the direct red card shown to Lucía Martínez.
Palamós is synonymous with football. Founded in 1898, the municipality can boast of having the oldest club in Catalonia. Currently, they compete in the Primera Catalana, the seventh tier of Spanish football, but for a year now, the town in Girona has also been enjoying elite football with Badalona Women. The Badalona side is exiled from its stadium while the natural grass is being installed, an essential requirement to compete in the Liga F. It is expected that in the coming weeks, the return will be a reality.
For the second consecutive year, Barça has had to travel to Palamós to play the Catalan derby, an always complicated visit. The Blaugranes, who took an early lead on the scoreboard, had to work hard until they started to secure the duel. Kerolin has debuted as a goalscorer in Liga F with Barça with a great finish against former Blaugrana Txell Font, whom she cut past with a good technical move.
Pere Romeu's team led on the scoreboard and in the game, but Badalona did not consider the match lost. Marc Ballester's side, which has gone six games without a win, started the second half with more intensity with the aim of equalizing the score. An equalizer that Irina Uribe almost found with a long-range free kick that crashed against the crossbar of the goal defended by Cata Coll.
It was all bad news for Barça at the start of the second half, as Clara Serrajordi had to leave the field injured with severe ankle pain. The midfielder got hurt when clearing a cross from the Badalona side inside the area and left the pitch with the help of the blaugrana medical services. A loss that added to that of Kika Nazareth, who was not present in Palamós due to a myofibrillar injury to the rectus femoris of her right thigh that will keep her away from the playing fields for between 4 and 5 weeks. Pere Romeu put his hands to his head.
The blue and reds, however, managed to react after a few initial minutes of disconnection thanks to a shot from Rosalía, who was a starter once again, which hit the crossbar. From then on, Barça regained their momentum and Carla Julià could have scored the second, but Lucía Martínez caught the player from Barcelona while she was attempting to shoot at goal. Pere Romeu requested a VAR review and, for the first time all season in the League, the decision went in favor of the Catalan coach. Penalty and a red card for the Badalona center-back.
Graham Hansen did not forgive from the penalty spot and the game turned in favor of the blue and reds. Kerolin, very alert, found her brace after a shot from Mayssa Baha hit the crossbar, and Claudia Pina, who came off the bench, completed the scoreline at 0-4. Barça adds another victory in the Liga F in a hard-fought duel that began to tilt their way after the expulsion of Lucía Martínez. Pere Romeu's team will remain leaders for another week.
