"This summer, Patrimoniea" in the Girona regions

The offer of concerts, themed visits and family activities can be consulted in the online agenda of the Cultural Heritage portal of the Generalitat

Imagine a classical music recital in a medieval monastery overlooking the Mediterranean, a family workshop to discover the myths of Empúries at the archaeological site, or a treasure hunt in the Iberian city of Ullastret. These are some of the unique offerings of the "This Summer, Patrimonieja" program, which transforms Girona's cultural heritage into a living, participatory, and surprising setting.

The program, promoted by the Department of Culture, offers hundreds of activities throughout Catalonia, open to all audiences, many of which are free. The goal: to bring heritage to everyone through artistic experiences and themed tours in exceptional settings such as castles, monasteries, museums, and archaeological sites. One of the central themes of the "This Summer, Heritage" initiative is musical recitals. One of the most established is the festival. Schubertiad, in the Alt Empordà, which, until August 31, will once again fill the Canonica de Santa María de Vilabertran, a jewel of 12th-century Romanesque art, with classical music. This year, the event pays tribute to the centenary of the birth of baritone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, whose line-up includes Matthias Goerne, Florian Boesch, André Schuen and Samuel Hasselhorn.

Another star proposal is the San Pedro de Rodas Music Festival, which is held in this Romanesque monastery, suspended over Cap de Creus and the Mediterranean. The competition celebrates its 25th anniversary with the premiere of The Crypt and culminates with an opera gala on August 30, which will include works by Mozart, Puccini and Verdi.

In the city of Girona, the Romanesque monastery of Sant Pere de Galligants offers dramatized visits which recreate the daily life of Benedictine monks and the people of the 12th century, bringing to life the atmosphere of that time. Evening tours are available on August 20th and 27th at 8 pm. The family workshop "I'm cold! Archaeology of clothing", to discover how clothes were made before sewing machines and experiment with historical tools, such as awls, needles and pondus, and create a small textile of your own.

In L'Escala, the archaeological site of Empúries offers the activity Roman visit to EmpúriesAn ancient inhabitant of the Roman Emporiae of the 1st century AD takes us on a fascinating journey through time, revealing what life was like in this city two thousand years ago. In Palamós, the Iberian village of Castell opens its doors with a guided tour The Iberians and the sea. The itinerary allows you to understand the strategic and economic importance of the coast at that time.

There is also space to discover the industrial heritage with Get floured, discover the Farinera Ecomuseum, in Castelló d'Empúries, which shows the flour production process in the old factory. And theCarles Fontserè Workshop Study, in Porqueres, opens its doors to the world of the multifaceted artist from the second half of the 20th century, in a visit that combines art, memory and creativity.

Major festivals in heritage sites

Throughout Catalonia, you can enjoy activities that open up the heritage to the public through artistic proposals and themed tours that show these spaces full of history, from different perspectives and perspectives.

The imposing Cardona Castle will host one of the most special moments of the summer on August 30th: the concert by singer Mariona Escoda, winner of the popular Euforia competition. The performance is part of the Cicle Espais, an initiative that brings contemporary artists to perform in charming heritage venues.
