The DO Montsant celebrates its 25 years with a Grape Harvest Festival at the Dosterras Winery

The harvest is always a special moment for the world of wine. It is the time to gather the fruits of a whole year of work and, traditionally, it is also a cause for celebration. This year, for the Montsant Designation of Origin, this celebration has a special meaning: it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the youngest Catalan designation of origin.

To commemorate this anniversary, the DO Montsant will celebrate its Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 26th, from 7 PM to midnight, at the Celler Dosterras, in Marçà (Priorat). The event proposes a gathering around wine where visitors will be able to taste the wines from the DO Montsant wineries and discover, firsthand, the people behind each project.

Music and gastronomy

The proposal will be completed with local gastronomy and live music. The musical program will begin at 7 p.m. with David & Clàudia DJ, promoters of the vespreigs +30 (evening events +30) in the Tarragona region and regulars in the booths of venues such as Sabana in Reus, Highland in Tarragona, or La Cage in Salou. The duo has shared the bill at different festivals with artists such as Joan Dausà, Love of Lesbian, Sidonie, and The Tyets.

Starting at 9:30 p.m., Miqui Puig DJ will take over, offering a session that will range from tracks already turned into classics to the latest hits. The musician and DJ is also the creator of the long-running club Old Wave New Wave and has an extensive career in festivals, clubs, and popular parties. On his program Pista de Fusta, on iCAT, he maintains a loyal audience of nearly 19,000 followers.

Gastronomy will be another of the pillars of the festival. Three restaurants from the region – Brichs, El Cairat, Fusta i Foc – will offer a selection of tapas that will allow attendees to discover the richness and diversity of the territory's restaurant scene and complete the experience around the wines of the DO Montsant.

Beyond the celebration of the harvest, the day also aims to be a meeting point between the wineries and the consumers. A space to share the result of a year of work and, at the same time, claim the human factor as one of the essential elements in the 25 years of history of the designation of origin.

The Harvest Festival is part of the commemoration of the 25 years of the DO Montsant, a trajectory marked by the evolution of its wineries and winegrowers and by the desire to make known the character and uniqueness of the wines of the territory.

25 tastings to celebrate 25 years

The Harvest Festival is one of the main events organized by the Montsant DO this year, on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. The DO is also organizing a total of 25 tastings throughout Catalonia in 2026. The commemorative program includes proposals in different formats, aimed at both professionals in the sector and the general public.

The calendar also incorporates pairing tastings and activities organized jointly with different associations linked to the world of wine and distributed throughout the Catalan territory. A program that allows the Montsant DO to bring its wines closer to new audiences and strengthen the bond with consumers and the sector.

The president of the Montsant DO, Pilar Just, highlights the effort that this first quarter of a century has represented: “These first twenty-five years, more than a long-distance race, have been a constant sprint because, as the youngest DO, we have had to maintain a sustained effort to be able to place ourselves in the mind of the consumer and position ourselves as a prestigious DO”. Just also emphasizes the importance of communication and the ability to explain the collective project of the denomination: "The work of these twenty-five years has been a race that has not faltered at any time and that has meant that from the Montsant Designation of Origin we have had the communicative will to know how to explain who we are".

A path that, according to the president, still has a long way to go, but which allows us to look to the future with optimism thanks to the sum of the projects promoted by the DO itself and the individual initiatives of its wineries and winegrowers.
