BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra arrested three people this Tuesday allegedly involved in the deadly assault on a man early Monday morning in the Nou Barris district of Barcelona. However, the investigation is by no means closed yet, as witnesses speak of a group of between six and eight people who attacked a man in the middle of the street. Therefore, the Mossos are still looking for more suspects.

So far, they have been able to locate these individuals at the scene thanks to the testimony of several neighbors and also by the video surveillance cameras in the area. It all happened on Romaní Street, very close to the Roquetes metro station, and the attackers beat the victim, in addition to also assaulting him with a bladed weapon.

The Mossos are investigating whether there is a revenge motive behind the crime, as the group of attackers allegedly targeted the victim directly, taking advantage of the fact that he was alone. They are also investigating whether it is the result of a conflict between youth gangs, one of the main hypotheses on the table, as ARA has learned. Although initial reports indicated that the deceased man was young—many witnesses spoke of a boy in their calls—he has finally been identified as a person in his fifties. Nevertheless, the detainees are indeed part of a youth gang.

In fact, Nou Barris is one of the city's districts with the highest presence of these new violent groups formed by young people, and the Catalan police have a specific plan to fight against them, as explained by ARA on several occasions.
