The United Kingdom introduces the first long-acting injections to prevent HIV into the public health system.

The National Health Service in England and Wales has begun offering the first HIV prevention injections, an alternative to daily pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) pills. The new treatment, called cabotegravir, is an antiretroviral drug administered every two months.
