BarcelonaA twist in the Andic case. Nine months ago, Mango owner Isak Andic died at the age of 71 while hiking through the Salnitre caves in Collbató, accompanied by his eldest son, Jonathan Andic. Despite the passing of months, the judicial investigation into the case has not been closed, to the point that Jonathan Andic is now a suspect in his father's death. This was recently decided by the presiding judge of the Investigative Court No. 5 of Martorell, who is investigating the case, after analyzing various evidence provided by the Mossos d'Esquadra investigation.

The investigation, however, is not over. In fact, it is at a crucial moment. According to ARA, a few days ago, Mossos d'Esquadra investigators seized Jonathan Andic's personal cell phone with a court order. Now, the Catalan police are conducting a search of the phone of the eldest son of the Mango founder to search for possible evidence. This analysis could take several weeks. The police hope to extract conclusive evidence from this phone to clarify the facts.

Previously, the dumping of Isak Andic's phone was key to reaching this point. His son's sometimes contradictory attitude also raised suspicions among investigators. Above all, his statements were confusing at times. And another element that the judge considered suspicious: Jonathan Andic changed his cell phone shortly after his father's death. All of this has led to this twist in the judicial script.

Initially, the Mossos d'Esquadra's main hypothesis was that Isak Andic's death was accidental, and that he fell into the void from a height of about 150 meters, a fall that caused his death. In fact, the Martorell court itself The court provisionally closed the case in mid-January because it saw no evidence of a crime. But it was eventually reopened.

The research

The investigation has evolved over the months, and the police have uncovered potential evidence that could point to a criminal death. Everything has led to the judicial investigation of Jonathan Andic, also in order to carry out investigative measures such as seizing his cell phone and emptying it with judicial authorization. The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) analyzed the conflicts the now-investigated suspect had had with his father, as well as the financial benefits that could be derived from his transfer. At the time of his death, the Mango founder, a hiking enthusiast, was alone with his son in the Salnitre caves. Initially, the reconstruction of the events on the mountain found no suspicious elements, but Andic's behavior and his statements have prolonged the investigation. In fact, far from being over, it is now reaching its final moment.

Isak Andic was until his death the richest man in Catalonia and the fifth largest fortune in Spain, with a net worth of 4.5 billion euros, according to the latest report by the magazine Forbes; a net worth that increased by 66% in the last year. Andic had three children with his first wife, Neus Raig: the aforementioned Jonathan, Judith, and Sarah. His current partner was Estefanía Knuth.
