The CSO warns of lack of shade and protection against heat at the Alcoy Hospital

ValenciaThe Workers' Union Council (CSO) once again denounces the lack of shaded areas and protection from the heat at the points where ambulances are stationed in the Alicante region, especially at the Alcoi Hospital and in the areas designated for the transport of radiotherapy and hemodialysis patients.

The union highlights that in summer these vehicles can reach very high temperatures and pose a problem for technicians and patients. Furthermore, they want to focus on the fact that this lack of shade can "cause discomfort, dehydration, hypotension, and worsening of the condition of especially vulnerable people".

A provincial-level problem

But this problem does not only affect Alcoi, but also "numerous points in Alicante where ambulances provide service, both in hospitals and health centers and sanitary transport bases".

The CSO has already reported this situation and has transferred the problem to the Labor Inspectorate: "We are not only talking about a matter of comfort. We are talking about prevention of occupational hazards, but also about the safety and well-being of patients". They demand that installing awnings, roofs or "any other effective shade measure must be a priority".

A repetitive complaint

For these reasons, the union demands that the necessary measures be urgently adopted to guarantee the shaded areas and that the situation of hemodialysis, radiotherapy, and oncology patients be taken into consideration.

They warn that they will continue to denounce the problem until "real solutions" are adopted.
