A man stabs his ex-partner to death in the street in Figueres

FiguerasThe Mossos d'Esquadra and the Guardia Urbana have arrested a 48-year-old man for stabbing his ex-partner to death in the street in Figueres. The events occurred around a quarter to three in the afternoon in Plaça Tarradellas when the man attacked the victim with a bladed weapon. Emergency services received the alert and rushed to the scene, but SEM personnel could do nothing to save the life of the 33-year-old woman, who was seriously injured.

According to initial reports, the arrested man had a restraining order against the woman and had been arrested on Monday for violating it. The case is being investigated as a presumed femicide and would be the third in Catalonia this year. The Figueres City Council will call for a minute of silence on Wednesday to condemn the events.
