A man kills his parents in a shooting in Almería and leaves his baby and three other people seriously injured
The alleged perpetrator, 25 years old, would have surrendered hours later and the Civil Guard is investigating the case as a domestic violence episode with possible mental disorder
BarcelonaTwo people have died and four others have been seriously injured —including two minors— in a shooting in the municipality of El Ejido (Almería) on Monday night. The alleged perpetrator of the shots, a 25-year-old man, is the son of the deceased victims and the father of one of the injured children.
According to investigation sources, the man shot his parents in an area known as El Canalillo, near the neighboring town of Balanegra. After the incident, he fled and was arrested hours later in El Ejido. The Civil Guard is keeping the investigation open and does not rule out that the case may be linked to a possible "mental disorder".
Among the injured are the detainee's son, a baby a few months old who is in critical condition, as well as another minor, a woman, and a man, all with serious injuries. Several of the affected have been transferred to the Torrecárdenas University Hospital in Almería.
The first calls came around 11:15 p.m., when several neighbors reported a series of shots in the area. Civil Guard, the Rapid Action Group (GAR), the National Police, the Local Police, and emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene.
Officers located a vehicle with bullet impacts and the lifeless bodies of the alleged perpetrator's parents. The investigation remains open to clarify the origin of the weapon and the exact circumstances of the events.
