BarcelonaEmmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, began this Monday his second visit to the Principality of Andorra. The French co-prince assured that he had discussed the decriminalization of abortion with Josep-Lluís Serrano Pentinat, the bishop of La Seu d'Urgell and the other co-prince, and with Xavier Espot, head of government, and suggested that during the speech he will give this Tuesday in Plaça del Poble he will refer to it: "We will talk about all the topics and I will also refer to it tomorrow in my speech," he remarked.

In turn, Espot explained yesterday that progress in the decriminalization of abortion must be made "from realism, prudence and ambition." For the head of government, these three axes, which "in this case are not incompatible," are part of the shared vision with Macron.

Abortion in Andorra is illegal in all cases, including cases of fetal malformation or rape. Andorran legislation on this point has been the focus of numerous criticisms inside and outside the country, and it is one of the points included in the recent report by Amnesty InternationalAmnesty International's recent report.
