BarcelonaSince two o'clock noon Bombers of the Generalitat (Catalan Government's Firefighters) work in extinguishing a forest fire burning in the Pobla de Massaluca, Terra Alta. The fire has been declared near the river Matarranya, shortly before it flows into the Ebre. 32 ground crews and 11 aerial firefighters, two seaplanes of the Spanish government and members of the Aragonese firefighters are working on this fire. As a preventive measure, the campsite Port Massaluca has been evacuated. The evacuees have been moved to the sports center of the municipality of Faió. Adif has also been asked to remove the voltage from the train line that passes through the area: there are no convoys in this section.

The Bombers want to prevent the flames from jumping the river and have made an axis of confinement on the road T-7231. "They are allocating all available resources", explained the Bombers of the Generalitat, who have warned that the fire is still active and opening. According to Agents Rurals, it affects a provisional area of 33 hectares and what caused it is being investigated. The Mossos d'Esquadra, apart from making the eviction of the campsite, are also cutting access to the area. In addition, ADIF has removed the voltage power on the tracks that pass nearby, so that the movement of trains has been stopped, and some roads have also been cut off, such as the TV-7231 and TV-7232.

Video of the fire

The one of the Pobla de Massaluca is the first relevant fire in Catalonia since the maximum alert was activated a few hours ago because of the extreme heat wave that has reached the country - but not the only one. Shortly after it was declared, about half past three, another has been detected in Figaró-Montmany, in the Vallès Oriental. The flames have started in an area with trees near the municipal swimming pool and have forced to evacuate the farmhouse Can Oliveres as a precaution. 22 teams work on it, five by air and 17 on land, which have focused efforts on the right flank, according to the ACN. According to Bombers' sources, an hour after receiving the notice they have managed to completely surround the fire with water hoses.
