BarcelonaCercanías commuter rail has assured that it will guarantee "mobility on all lines" this Monday, either by train or with alternative road services, which it has already been offering in recent days on eleven lines. Adif (the Spanish rail infrastructure manager) personnel continue working at 31 points across the network, distributed throughout all lines, and the rail operator does not guarantee that service will be back to normal this Monday. However, Cercanías promises that mobility will be guaranteed "with the services that are running, those that are reopening, and with alternative transport plans." These alternative transport plans will be by road on those sections where trains cannot run due to work on the railway infrastructure. Thus, starting this Monday, Cercanías will reinstate train service on the R11 line between Figueres and Portbou, and the lines that will have some sections with alternative road transport will be the R1, RG1, R3, R4, R7, R8, RL4, R13, R14, R15, and RT1.

These works on the railway infrastructure, which will still prevent train service on some sections this Monday, are mainly focused on protecting slopes and cuttings. Adif personnel are also working on track repairs in areas where damage has been necessary.

In a statement released this Sunday, the railway manager warned that "depending on the progress of the works, the infrastructure will be made available to the service provider and the operator for gradual normalization." Adif also specified that the works are being coordinated with the Generalitat (Catalan government), Renfe (Spanish national railway company), and train drivers.

The list of 31 projects is not the same as the one previously in effect, as some works have been completed and new ones have been added. Adif attributes the damage to the recent storms that have affected Catalonia and assures that it is working to gradually normalize service and minimize the risk of further incidents.

Tracks near the sea and slopes

So far, Adif has already carried out more than 400 inspections across the entire rail network as part of the emergency plan. These inspections have focused primarily on track sections closest to the coast and on lines with the most steep slopes. Following these inspections, Adif has established four levels of intervention to prioritize urgent actions. To carry out these inspections and the necessary work, Adif has deployed approximately 50 teams and some 400 technicians and operators, in addition to specialized machinery. At the same time, the company has reinforced continuous monitoring to detect potential risks and implement preventive measures. such as reducing speed in some sections.
