BarcelonaJuntos sets a new date to pressure the PSOE: if the Socialists have not complied with the agreements by May, they will withdraw their parliamentary support. The warning was issued by the party's general secretary, Jordi Turull, in an interview on Spanish TVE: "If the Brussels agreement is not fulfilled, we will no longer support the government." Turull recalled that this is the deadline they had agreed upon with the international mediator. However, the regional leader ruled out the possibility of Junts entering into a possible motion of no confidence against Pedro Sánchez's Spanish government.

At the end of February Together they withdrew the vote of confidence they were asking the Spanish president, Pedro Sánchez, to submit to. after being asked to do so by the international mediator, the El Salvadoran diplomat Francisco Galindo. "Despite noting that there is no trust in the PSOE, [the Junts executive] has decided to respond to the mediator's request and make a final effort to avoid a rupture," Turull himself said just the day before the non-legislative proposal was due to be debated. Now, Turull warns that they will not give the Spanish government another "extension" beyond May. "We can't give it; we are at a negotiating table in Switzerland because there is no trust. There is no trust in the PSOE, that's why we need a mediator," he stated.

Turull recalled that his assessment of the agreements with the PSOE is critical and added that if there is no progress before May, "whatever has to happen will happen." In this regard, the regional leader has denied that the party is negotiating with the PSOE over the state budget: "There is no [negotiation]." Turull recalled that the Socialists know that until 100% budget execution is proven or this deficit is somehow compensated, they will not sit down to negotiate either this year's or next year's accounts.

The regional secretary general also criticized the Spanish government for other agreements that are not being fulfilled, such as making Catalan official in Europe or applying the amnesty law to Carles Puigdemont. In this regard, he lamented that neither the PSOE, nor Pedro Sánchez, nor Salvador Illa are applying the political amnesty to the former president of the Generalitat because "they do not want to talk" or meet with Puigdemont.

The photograph, "when it has to arrive"

For the moment, the Spanish government doesn't see this as the moment for a photo opportunity between the Spanish president and the leader of Junts. "The day the meeting should be held will be held. It will come when it has to, within the framework of normality," stressed the spokesperson for the Moncloa, Pilar Alegría, at the press conference following the Council of Ministers. The Spanish government shows little concern about Turull's threat and emphasizes that, beyond statements, what counts are the votes in Congress. Last week, the Spanish government achieved a record number of victories in the lower house, with important initiatives such as the validation of the decree for the distribution of migrant minors in the Canary Islands and also the electric car aid plan, among others. "We have approved 30 laws during this term. And out of almost 1,000 votes, more than 900 have been passed. This has been thanks to the dialogue we have maintained with the parliamentary reality," added Alegría.
