Crime at the reservoir: they identify the body of the murdered man floating in Baells
The Mossos are investigating the victim's circle, a resident of Berga, to find the trigger for the homicide
BarcelonaA woman walking her dog saw something floating in the Baells reservoir, in Berguedà. It was wrapped and tied with a belt. It could be guessed that it was a human body. The woman called the emergency number and within a few minutes the Mossos d'Esquadra had already confirmed it was a corpse. It happened on Wednesday, April 15th. No one had gone missing from the nearest municipality, Vilada, but the answer was eventually found in Berga: a sixty-year-old resident of the old town was not at home. Everything pointed to someone having killed him.
At first, however, according to sources consulted by ARA, the Mossos were not clear that it was a homicide. In fact, initially neither the hypothesis of suicide nor that of an accident was ruled out, even though the body appeared wrapped. After receiving the autopsy results, which pointed to a criminal death, the police are now investigating these events along a single line: it had been a homicide.
Reconstruction of events
Once identified, the Mossos went to the victim's home, on Carrer del Carme in the capital of Berguedà. The police found indications that the crime could have occurred in that space and that they later moved the body, until abandoning it in the Baells reservoir. From the outset, the police thought that the answers could be found in the victim's environment. For several days, the Mossos thoroughly analyzed the building where the victim lived to find traces of the crime and also reconstructed their environment and their last movements.
It is in the environment of this victim that the Mossos suspect the trigger for the crime lies. The victim would have been seen with other people in recent weeks, whom the police are now trying to locate. The investigation, according to sources consulted by ARA, is progressing.
